Now is the time to get it done

by: CharlieBaker

( - promoted by Mike "DD4RP" Rossettie)

HI Folks,

This week we passed the one month mark to Election Day.  Wow!  Every day really counts now, so let's stay focused on what we need to get done during the next 25 days and make sure everyone realizes that we are the team to take Massachusetts in a new direction and end the tax-and-spend policies that have led to record unemployment and a $2.5 billion deficit for next year.

There have been a lot of distractions in the campaign during the past week, but I want to let you know that we are focused on the next 25 days and making sure the voters of Massachusetts understand we cannot continue on the same path Governor Patrick has led us down. I spent the past 10 years turning around Harvard Pilgrim; I made the tough choices similar to those Governor Patrick has avoided. And if I am lucky enough to be elected governor, I plan on tackling the reforms that this administration has avoided.

Governor Patrick started attacking me this week about my time at Harvard Pilgrim - another attempt to try to distract voters from what this race is really about: getting Massachusetts back to work, growing our economy, cutting taxes and reducing spending. He attacks me for premium increases, but fails to mention that he has approved every health insurance premium increase since he's been governor.

And as I'm sure you all know, Deval Patrick just can't be trusted on taxes, a fact that is highlighted in our new ad reminding voters what happened the last time Patrick promised us he had no plan to raise taxes.  Click here to watch the ad on our website. http://www.charliebaker2010.com/

CharlieBaker :: Now is the time to get it done
Despite Governor Patrick's election year rhetoric about having "no plan to raise taxes," he admitted this week that he favors implementing a progressive income tax - sounds like a plan to raise taxes to me!

Folks - this is the time to get it done.  We have a plan to take Massachusetts in a new direction, but we need to work our butts off for the next 25 days to get a chance to do it.  So make sure you're signed onto the Team Baker Online Action Center http://volunteer.charliebaker2... and make those phone calls.  Sign up to help on Election Day here: http://www.charliebaker2010.co...  Talk to your friends and neighbors about what is at stake in this election and make sure they get out and vote!!

Keep up the great work!

Charlie

[hidden comment] You cannot be trusted .... (0.00 / 7)
you screwed the participating physicians in the Rhode Island Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. They had to take you to court to get paid what they were owed but you got to hold their money for two years.

Hey, are you afraid of doctors?
Seems so or you would have had that ugly mole removed from the left side of your face years ago. Guess you are a risk taker. It could be a pre-cancerous melanoma. Get it removed and then I might be able to take you seriously. You are putting your life and the quality of your family's life at risk but I guess you don't care about them either.

Charlie--FORGET CAHILL. (0.00 / 0)
You've pumped life into a fading candidate's campaign by getting roped into an idiotic exchange re Loscocco. Focus on Patrick. HE'S your opponent.

[hidden comment] Indication That Charlie "The Mole" Baker Would Not Make A Good Governor (0.00 / 2)
Charlie Baker has no focus.
He is all over the map and apparently has an adult onset form of ADD!

Thanks, Barbara. (0.00 / 0)
It's not only rational, it's obvious. Painfully so.

Rational???????// (0.00 / 1)
If Charlie Baker were "rational" he would have not let Paul  "LostLOCCO" anywhere near him.

Seriously shows how Baker is way out of his league here. (0.00 / 0)
Meeting with crazy Loco at the Seaport Hotel?  Seriously?

Baker really believed that no one was watching him that day, he has no idea who he is up against.

Was the crazy Loco endorsement really worth it Charlie?  Now that you've had time to look back.  Do you think your Campaign Team is helping you or hurting your chances at winning the Governor's seat.

If I write something in italics it means I'm just making a joke.  : )

Charlie Baker and Elvis (0.00 / 1)
So, Charlie, you are finally focusing on Patrick and not Cahill?    How much time and money did you waste on Cahill?

There is a joke circulating now:

Question:   What is the difference between Elvis and Charlie Baker's campaign?

Answer:   You can find people who think Elvis is still alive.

You're lying on taxes, Charlie. (0.00 / 1)
Two quick points/questions:

1) You wrote:

Despite Governor Patrick's election year rhetoric about having "no plan to raise taxes," he admitted this week that he favors implementing a progressive income tax - sounds like a plan to raise taxes to me!

Being a former A & F Secretary and Beacon Hill insider, you know that that is a lie.  Let's say that the state income tax is, say, 5.3%.  Then let's say a progressive income tax gets implemented.  For the sake of simple numbers, let's say it's a two-tier progressive income tax: 4% on the first $200,000 in income, 7% on income over $200,000.  The change to a progressive income tax is no more a tax increase than it is a tax cut!  Of course, you also know that such an adjustment is stimulative to the economy because lower-income families are much more likely to spend what money they have much more quickly on necessities.  On this point, rather than have an honest conversation about the merits and possible shortcomings of a progressive income tax vs. a flat tax, you're just lying and fear mongering.  Well played.

2) Let's say Democrats once again retain massive, veto-proof majorities in both houses of the state legislature.  How will you implement your proposed massive tax cuts without slashing critical funding for local aid, public safety, infrastructure, education and other important initiatives?  More importantly, why would anything you propose have any impact on a state legislature that can ignore you completely?  (Since you're taking an antagonistic vs. collaborative tone, any pablum you offer on impossible tax cuts will likely be disregarded entirely anyway.)

You're simply lying to voters on taxes, Charlie.  We expected much more from your candidacy - maturity and honesty, at least.  We were wrong to expect that.

Disappointing (2.50 / 2)
Why do you say that Deval has approved every health insurance premium since he has been governor, when that is untrue.

In the Deval tv ads he is talking about how he rejected the health insurance premium increases and how all the health insurance companies needed to reduce their requested increases.

We all know this happened and you have talked about it as a sign of Deval running a rogue government.

Why would you boast about something that is so easily shown to  prove is wrong?  It hurts the rest of your argument, which is the real issue.

Get it together Charlie!

Stop screwing around this this junior varsity stuff and amateur mistakes.

Charlie Baker must, also, include defeating as many D's as possible... (5.00 / 2)
...in the Massachusetts State Legislature! This needs to be said often from now on! The Massachusetts State Legislature has been dominated by leftists-leftist Democrats, leftist Republicans, and leftist Independents-for more than sixty years! The state legislature is where most political power resides in Massachusetts! It's not enough, just to change the Governor/Lt. Governor seats! Finally, end the leftist dominance of the state legislature, and work towards this goal this year and beyond!
