Red Mass Group at 5

by: Rob "EaBo Clipper" Eno

Thu Feb 02, 2012 at 15:57:16 PM EST

Next Tuesday, February 7, 2012 Friday February 17, 2012 will be the fifth anniversary of our first post.  Five years later, we've become a force in Massachusetts Politics and collectively helped elect a Republican US Senator.

Look for some retrospective posts over the next few days.  If you've got a favorite RMG Post, Story or Anectdote over the past 5 years, let me know in the comments.

Anything from CVIM! (0.00 / 0)
You pick the best CVIM post!

Actually, you should have categories:

1) who makes you laugh?
2) who makes you think?
3) who makes you angry?
4) who do you wish would post more/less?
5) etc.

As an Avid Reader, (0.00 / 0)
My top TEN (or so) people who post the most in my memory, not including Rob AND in no particular order and omitting groups are:

Critical Dan
Merrimackman
V3PN, RRR & V
Strawberry
Malarky
edfactor
Whelan
Brock
Howard
billxi (ok thats eleven)

Porcupine has been quiet lately though I'm sure will reappear after March 6th.
GOPSue is coming on!

Did I forget any obvious ones?
Anyone want to put these in order?

Congrats and Thanks RMG!

Hmm... (0.00 / 0)
Actually, looking at the date on that it seems Rob has some other post in mind.  What post was on the Feb 7th?  Looks to have been deleted.

Thought you might have deleted them a while back.  The 7th is the date I have an email from you saying we've launched.  That is wrong though. The 17th is actually the date.

Full Disclosure

Ah the good old days... (0.00 / 0)
...with Ted K's Liver...the first person banned on RMG.  Even Patrick's "pure" Libertarian beliefs proved incapable of tolerating an a-hole like him.

It was a lot of fun driving him over the brink.

I remember that guy!

Good times. (0.00 / 0)
Maybe I'm confusing him with someone else, but I seem to recall that he emailed me privately to say that he was going to hack the site.  I didn't take his threat seriously but nonetheless thought it was good enough to justify a ban that he seemed to really really want.

I joined this site three weeks in (5.00 / 3)
So I'm kind of a late-comer. But we really have seen it all, from the dark days after the election of Patrick and Obama, to the highs of getting Scott Brown and the 33 rascals in the House elected.
I got to give Patrick and now Rob a whole lot of credit, they've done a terrific job over the years, and this site really has filled the horrible and empty void of a place where everyday Republicans and Conservative Independents can discuss, plan and meet up.
RedMassGroup makes living in Massachusetts a whole of lot more tolerable. It's nice to have a daily reminder that you are not the only one out there.
Keep up the good work!

How about (0.00 / 0)
the post where dishonorable lying Festus Garvey made a bet and failed to make payment when he lost?

"I acknowledge having racist and classist and sexist feelings of white male superiority." -John Howard

At least admit it ... (0.00 / 0)
His death last note of "good bye" is still one of the most memorable post.

Gosh ... I miss that guy! I still think the "new and improved Festus" is his brother or some other family member.

The Simple guy is just not as funny, clever or intelligent as Festus. Where Festus could be trusted to always understand the whole story, Simple well, he tries but just doesn't have the same IQ. It's not his fault, he does try hard but it's just not the same.

Yea, Simple is probably the "simple" cousin who lives in the basement at Festus' Mother's home.

I would be interested in knowing............. (0.00 / 0)
what the top ten most commented posts were during the five year history.  I know there were quite a few up over 100 comments...

If you disagree with me you are a racist homophobe.

Happy 5th Anniversary, RMG! (0.00 / 0)
From all of us at Pioneer!

We believe in transparency, accountability, making sure taxpayers know how their government is spending their money, and RMG has done a phenomenal job of shining the spotlight both locally and nationally.

Congrats to Rob for all the work he does to keep this incredible forum both serious and entertaining, and for his terrific investigative & fact-checking work over the years. We are so grateful.

Lastly, kudos to all the folks who contribute, those who post and those who "lurk" - the popularity of this site is a testament to your spirit of citizenship, inquiry, idealism, critical reflection, the same spirit that animated our country's Founders over 200 years ago, and that has made this nation the leader of the free world!

Okay, sorry for the schmaltz - but, THANK GOODNESS for RMG!
