In what may be the strongest indication that the probation indictments are imminent, the Herald's Laurel Sweet is reporting that Sal DiMasi has been removed from his Kentucky prison and his whereabouts are unknown.
Former Speaker of the House Salvatore F. DiMasi has left the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Ky., where he has been imprisoned since Nov. 30, but the convicted extortionist's whereabouts are unclear.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator lists DiMasi as "in transit." A spokeswoman for the service told the Herald the 66-year-old North Ender is in the custody of the U.S. Marshals, but she was unable to provide his destination.
DiMasi's name has been bandied about as possibly on Carmen Ortiz's list of Ware Report-Probation Department indictments. If so, the fact that he is being moved, may be the strongest indicator yet that those indictments are imminent. They'd of course want to arraign DiMasi in person, and he'd need to be in Boston for that.
