Ten Silly Things

by: David Whelan

( - promoted by Rob "EaBo Clipper" Eno)

1) Is Bill Hudak the new Ponce de León?

2) The fifteen words that ended a career. "Have more questions about your charges? Get details for all your Usage Charges at vzw.com/mybusinessaccount."

3) The second half of the recent Suffolk poll suggests that Deval is not Presidential material, Marsha is the fav to be the next Democratic candidate for Governor, and Murray is polling side by side with Setti. (see #2 above)

http://www.masslive.com/politics/index.ssf/2012/02/suffolk_university_poll_deval.html

4) I heard the T was having fiscal trouble. Who could have seen that coming?

5) I still hate anonymous posting.

6) My local Patch has a conservative blogger. Does Ms. Huffington know? (teasing you Karl!)

7) Is BMG getting more radical left?

8) Don't know if you heard, but Whitney Houston has passed away.

9) When does the Globe do a patronage story on the MBTA and other quasis?

10) Collected signatures for Brown and Tisei yesterday. It appears to me that we have a gender gap.

Reading Patch has political stuff almost every day.

Why is President Obama's Justice Dept. running guns to Mexican drug cartels, and possibly MS-13 too?

Yikes! (0.00 / 0)
Maybe you are right. The Swampscott Patch site has been pretty fair. They even asked me to blog on education issues but I declined given the fact that my son is still in the high school. I also noticed yesterday as we were collecting signatures for Brown just how hard Warren will be to beat. The perception may very well be different than the reality regarding Brown and Warren.

Weekly Top 10 (0.00 / 0)
David, I enjoy your top 10 lists and hope you continue to make it a regular feature.

1) He's something, just never really sure what.

2) Don't worry there's nothing to see there. On a different slant, if this were a Republican Lt. Governor, would Anonymous have already hacked the site and released the records?

3) I think Murray has reached the top of his political career and will be challenged in the primary.  Whether its Martha or Joe Curatone or someone else, there is little likelihood that Murray can withstand the heat.

4) Wondering when the shared sacrifice will come?  The new workers operate under the new pension scheme while all existing workers are under the former scheme that adds to the untenable operating costs.  Think its time for ALL T employees to share in the sacrifice.

I am particularly taken by the call for a higher gas tax that will disproportionately impact those without the means to buy a hybrid car to go to work.  These hard working people that go to work before the T starts running or come home after it stops have to drive and will be hit hardest by the increases.  Does anyone want to raise the issue that a higher gas tax is regressive and potentially negatively impacting certain groups of people more than others?

5) Sorry, its what I started with a couple of years ago.  Thinking about switching soon though as names make people think more about their comments, they own them.

6) He's driving eyeballs to the pages, she loves that!!

7) On a lot of issues, yes.  I have seen some of the more moderate posters seem to have gone silent.

9) You wouldn't want to cut into the Elizabeth Warren or Joe Kennedy coverage would you!

10) I noticed a gender gap, but also noticed when I was getting signatures that the nastiness quotient was higher than in prior races. Was cussed out for being a Republican more than ever and the language went way past what one would use in respectable company (I guess, as a Republican, I was not considered respectable).

Did women refuse to sign?

More boys were willing to sign than girls.

I continue to have Republican men refuse to sign. (0.00 / 0)
But the was Tewksbury, which went 70:30 for Brown, so I assume I am running into the some of those who had overly heightened expectations in 2010.

No gender gap in Lakeville (0.00 / 0)
Many people at the transfer station yesterday morning were reluctant and unwilling to sign for Scott Brown, but were more than willing to sign papers to re-elect conservative State Rep. Keiko Orrall.  Now there's a gap.

Reasons (0.00 / 0)
Most would not give reasons, but those who did were not pleased with is record, from both sides.

Not too surprising (0.00 / 0)
People are always more willing to sign for someone they know, and Keiko is extremely well-known in Lakeville.
