Deval Patrick skipping fallen officer's wake for SEIU fundraiser in NYC

Thu Jun 07, 2012 at 09:37:20 AM EDT

Paul Craney at the MassFiscal Alliance sent me the following press release this morning.  It appears Deval Patrick is forgoing attending the wake of a fallen Massachusetts police officer to attend an SEIU fundraiser in NYC.

Gov. Patrick Skips Officer's Wake for NYC SEIU Event
Governor Patrick Puts NYC Union Trip ahead of Springfield Police Officer & Family

Wakefield, MA: Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance made the following statement today in regard to Governor Deval Patrick avoiding the wake of fallen Springfield Police Officer Kevin Ambrose to visit a New York City 1199 SEIU Union reception at 6pm. Officer Ambrose's wake will be held from 2pm - 7pm at Sampson's Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home.

"Governor Patrick is putting the interests of a New York City SEIU reception ahead of a fallen Springfield Police Officer. The Governor has a responsibility to his home state before that of the SEIU Union and New York City," stated Paul D. Craney, Executive Director of Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance.

"Massachusetts taxpayers should not be on the hook for the Governor's trip. If the Governor wants to do something meaningful in Springfield, he should spend time with the Springfield Police Department, the Ambrose family and the community," concluded Craney.

If the event in NYC starts at 6, the governor has time to do both.  He should make every effort to do so.

Deval Patrick will send one of his underlings...... (0.00 / 0)
Why should Deval go?  Dead cops can't vote and dead cops don't make campaign donations...   The SEIU does...

Ed Markey is now the official 'cheapest' man on earth.  1.5 percent to charity while the average American gave 3 times as much...

Maybe Timmy (aka Crash) goes... (5.00 / 1)

When asked to comment on why he ignored a dead cop..... (5.00 / 2)
Deval Patrick responded:

"Let me say on behalf of the people of the Commonwealth, we don't care about that subject."
