Scott Brown: Let America be America Again

by: Rob "EaBo Clipper" Eno

Mon Jul 23, 2012 at 07:46:31 AM EDT

Scott Brown just released what is perhaps the best web video of this campaign.  This should be cut into a minute ad and start airing now.

The full copy is after the jump.

Rob "EaBo Clipper" Eno :: Scott Brown: Let America be America Again
Transcript for "Let America Be America Again" (WEB 2:30)
VIDEO TEXT: "How Did We Go From This..."
VIDEO TEXT: "I believe in an America where the free enterprise system flourishes for all other systems to see and admire - where no businessman lacks either competition or credit - and where no monopoly, no racketeer, no government bureaucracy can put him out of business that he built up with his own initiative." JOHN F. KENNEDY
PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON: "A government that understands that jobs must come from growth in a vibrant and vital system of free enterprise."
PRESIDENT LYNDON B. JOHNSON: "I am so proud of our system of government, of our free enterprise, where our incentive system and our men who head our big industries are willing to get up at daylight and work until midnight to offer employment and create new jobs for people."
PRESIDENT GERALD FORD: "I have faith in America. Through our system of democracy and free enterprise, the United States has achieved remarkable, unbelievable progress."
PRESIDENT RONALD REAGAN: "Small business is the gateway to opportunity for those who want a piece of the American Dream. Wouldn't it be nice to hear a little more about the forgotten heroes of America, those who create most of our new jobs, like the owners of stores down the street, the faithful who support our churches, synagogues, schools and communities. The brave men and women everywhere who produce our goods, feed a hungry world, and keep our families warm while they invest in the future to build a better America. That's where miracles are made. Not In Washington, DC."
VIDEO TEXT: "To This..."
PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: "If you've been successful, you didn't get there on your own. You didn't get there on your own. I'm always struck by people who think, 'well it must because I was so smart.' Because if you've got a business, you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen."
HARVARD PROFESSOR ELIZABETH WARREN: "There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody. You built a factory out there -- good for you. But I want to be clear. You moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for."
VIDEO TEXT: "Let's Remember What America Is Supposed To Be About"
U.S. SENATOR SCOTT BROWN: "When you do well, everyone else does well.  And I promise you this, I will never demonize you as business leaders and business owners for the work you do or the opportunities you create because I think we should not be blaming you - we should be thanking you."

Barack Obama and Elizabeth Warren have it EXACTLY backwards.. (0.00 / 0)
Obama and Warren talk about how business people are somehow obligated to government, and therefore should pay more in taxes as a result, becuase the government built roads and bridges for them to use to 'bring goods to market'.  5 Minutes of google research proves them exactly wrong and backwards about this understanding.

Truth be told, it is government that is obligated to private entrepreneurs and business leaders for the roads and bridges.  If you look at the history of roads around the world, you find that almost all 'major' roadways were originally created as trade routes.  The earliest roads in human history were forged by young men, and women, looking to trade their wears with other people in places near and far.  Many of these earliest trade routes were named after the goods being traded or sold.

Even here in the early US colonies, much of the travel to this new land was for the prospect of trade in fur, wood, agricultural crops, cotton etc.  The roads traveling west in the mid 1800's were forged in search of gold and other precious metals - by private businessman and their families.  Government has not long been in the business of doing favors for businessmen by building them roads to do business with.  In fact, the early roads ONLY came to be regulated by government as a result of military intervention.  Boston Post Road, which runs from Boston to New York was originally a postal road, only one horse wide, until the colonies decided it would serve well for a military to defend against British troops.  Otherwise, the government had no interest in the expense of roadways.

Even today, most roads are developed as a result of private businesses/developers expressing an interest in expanding traffic flows thru certain areas for the benefit of business.  A perfect example will be seen in the cities in Massachusetts which get the casinos.  New roads will be developed including on-ramps and off-ramps to major highways.  This will be done in RESPONSE to business development.

So understand that roads are built as a response to business expansion.  Business expansion is the CAUSE, and building new roads is the Effect.  Obama and Warren think is is the other way around.  They foolishly think that government builds roads (and educates kids) and then businesses discover those new roads (and smart kids) and decide to expand their because of it.

'You built a factory, but you did it on roads we (government bureaucrats) built'.

This government-centric philosophy is at the heart of all their ideas.  More government means better everything.  History is littered with examples of how this is wrong.

Scott Brown is exactly right.  Government needs to get out of the way of businesses.  There is enough regulation and oversight already.  So many past Presidents see how it works, why can't Obama and Elizabeth Warren?  I guess this explains why no jobs are being created nationally and why America is failing to lead the world in these desperate times.

Pretty good, but (0.00 / 0)
a matter of technical aesthetics....the audio where Brown comes in at the end should be of better quality and maybe the video should be of him actually saying those words instead of multiple 2 second shots of him shaking campaigning.

BTW, didja see the look on Lie-awatha's face when she says the phrase "...you moved your goods to market on roads the REST of us paid for!!"??

That sure is one angry anti-business Native American woman!!

2:00...when she turns and looks at the camera......THAT is one angry Cherokee.

I dunno what she's angry about.  The very business owners she's directing her hatred towards are the very ones that paid the taxes that built the roads in the first place.

Same thought here..... (0.00 / 0)
Audio drops of and it needs a visual of Scott Brown saying those words.

Look, Scott Brown is a good looking guy.  Get him on camera as much as possible......

3/4 of Americans believe believe small business owners did it themselves. (0.00 / 0)
Read it here at Breitbart.

Breitbart references a new Rasmussen poll.

Seventy-two percent (72%) of Likely U.S. Voters believe that people who start small businesses are primarily responsible for their success or failure.

Warren's $15mm (0.00 / 0)
Where did Warren's $15mm come from??

The reason she says "no one got rich on their own" is because she got exceptionally wealthy, and clearly she did not make that money. So where did it come from??

Perhaps the fact that we have seen millions voting themselves into complete dependence on a tyrant has made our generation understand that to choose one's government is not necessarily to secure freedom.

WOW - Charley on the MTA reached a whole new level of "CRAZY" because of this ad. (0.00 / 0)

It's amazing how the progressive understanding of American society can be so completely backwards. (0.00 / 0)
Government obviously has a role in our individual success, as do many other social institutions.  But as Americans, we don't feel like the owe the government anything, because we are the government.  We created it.  We fund it.  We direct it's activities.  And we can change it in any way that's consistent with the protection of individual liberty.  The Founders used the term "self government" to express this idea that the freedom and responsibility to govern ultimately rests with free individuals.  The modern progressive idea that we should be grateful towards government -- as if it were a parent figure -- is not befitting a free and self governing people, which is why few Americans actually feel that way.

So if progressives want the government to take more of our money (which is what Obama and Warren are arguing for), they need to convince us that it will be money well spent.  They need to speak to us as free and equal citizens, not as subjects who owe everything we have to our beneficent masters.

Sen. Brown Video (0.00 / 0)
EB Clipper you've got it right. This is a great video produced by, I'm sure, very highly paid mind control experts. So good it is as good as all the other advertisements for Obama and Romney. How about some substance without pandering.

Again I say, when Sen. Brown publicly repudiates his vote
for the National Defense Authorization Act and states why
it was a big mistake, then I will support him. Playing music and images with fond memories is how you sell Coke and Pepsi.
This isn't about winning anymore. It is whether we survive much longer as a democratic republic.

Agreed on the NDAA… (0.00 / 0)
It's an inexcusable violation of the Constitution.  But don't expect satisfaction from Brown -- the substance of the law was a campaign promise of his in 2010.  Warren has dodged the issue, which tells me that she wouldn't vote any differently (ie, she wouldn't vote against Obama).

A better bet might be to ask your local Congressional candidates.  My two Republican candidates haven't responded to my question on the NDAA, but it couldn't hurt for them to get questioned by other voters...

Fantastic ad (0.00 / 0)
I think the ad was great! I agree that it needs better editing and audio. (Don't these guys have infinite funds?)

I think it's about damn time the Republicans get out there and defend entrepreneurial capitalism and our great American corporations. Every Republican up and down the ticket should be doing this everywhere they go.

Smoke (0.00 / 0)
So the president under whom tax rates are historically the lowest (yup, President Obama) is some kind of business-hating socialist, but Lyndon Johnson and Gerald Ford (much, much higher tax rates) were promoters of free enterprise? I think America is still America, whatever Scott Brown says. There's no more substance in this video than the one attacking Romney for saying he likes to fire people. Can we talk about policy for once?

Adverstise here for as low as $60 per week.
