617-822-1969 - start calling at 8:55
Tomorrow morning Governor Deval Patrick will be joining WTKK's Jim and Margery for their monthly "Ask the Governor" segment. The segment runs from 9 AM - 10 AM in the morning. The call in nubmer is 617-822-1969. Here are a few questions that the Governor should answer. Feel free to call him and ask them
1) Why did your office take back Stan McGee after his arrest for the alleged rape of a 15 year old boy?
Documents recently obtained by the conservative web site Red Mass Group show that the gaming commission relied on your administration's word that you conducted a review of the charges against Carl Stanley McGee regarding his alleged rape of a 15 year old boy. The Boston Globe and Cape Cod Times have repeatedly reported that your office conducted no such independent review. Can you set the record straight Governor? What did your review of the charges entail?
2) Why did your administration continue to employ Stan McGee after his settlement with the 15 year old boy who accused him of raping him?
In 2011 a lawsuit first filed in 2009 was settled by Carl Stanley McGee and the 15 year old boy who accused him of raping him. Did your office discuss this settlement with Carl Stanley McGee at the time? Did you read the initial lawsuit, I did and it's disgusting? After emails obtained by the conservative blog Red Mass Group showed that McGee discussed the terms of his settlement with the Gaming Commission, Wendy Murphy told the Cape Cod Times that McGee had violated the confidentiality clause. Murphy then went on to disclose that the settlement was in the neighborhood of "ten times the average annual salary" of an American. Had you known that would you have taken Stan McGee Back?
3) How come, after it became public knowledge that Florida law enforcement still recommended prosecuting Stan McGee, did you say you would welcome him back?
On May 4, 2012, as the controversy surrounding the pick of Carl Stanley McGee to be the interim director of the Gaming commission was reaching a boiling point, the Cape Cod Times reported that Special Agent Terry Thomas of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Child Crimes Unit was still recommending that McGee be prosectued. He told the Times and later told the conservative blog Red Mass Group, that "recommended prosecution before, would do so today and would do so ten years from now." He also repeated, as reported elsewhere, that "he has tried and won convictions with less evidence than is available in this case." Knowing that, why would you have welcomed McGee Back with open arms?
4) According to State House News a child sexual abuse bill is coming across your desk soon, will you hold your administration to the same standards outlined in this bill?
Mitchell Garabedian, the attorney for scores of sexual abuse victims of Catholic Priests, sees institutional similarities between the response of the Church and your Administration to charges of sexual abuse of a minor. In an emailed statement to the blog Red Mass Group Garabedian outlined the similarities. Saying that "Any investigation of allegations of sexual abuse of a minor must be truly independent. The investigation must be truly independent in order to avoid personal and institutional bias. I have seen many kangaroo courts and so called independent investigators created with goals which are only meant to favor the accused person and institution. There is no room for spin control in an investigation concerning the sexual abuse of a minor." Will you hold your administration to the same standards you are about to hold the Catholic Church, and other non-profit organizations?
5) Why did your deputy chief of staff, at the time, Sydney Asbury classify Carl Stanley McGee, an alleged child rapist, as being "close" to you?
In an email obtained by the conservative blog Red Mass Group, your deputy chief of staff Sydney Asbury raised only one red flag to the Chairman of the Gaming Commission regarding Stan McGee. The red flag was McGee's closeness to you. Would you care to let the listening audience know if you are taking the advice of Carl Stanley McGee and what the nature of your close relationship is?
6) You are about to recieve a foreclosure mediation bill to sign. Given that you were on the board of sub-prime mortgage orignator, aren't you just using government to clean up your mess?
You served on the board of Ameriquest Mortgage from 2004 to 2006. Multiple independent accounts of your time on the board say your prescense on the board did not effect any material change in their business practices. ACC Capital holdings merely switched their lending practices to another nameplate, Argent Mortgage. In fact when the founder of Ameriquest was up for an Ambassadorship, you allayed fears of US Senators, including Barack Obama, while Elizabeth Warren was sounding the alarm about what an awful guy Arnall was. nbsp; You made this mess, why are you using your power as governor to clean it up?
7) Were you party, as a book on the subject alleges, to committing multiple instances of ethics fraud while on the board of Ameriquest?
In his blockbuster book, The Monster: How a Gang of Predatory Lenders and Wall Street Bankers Fleeced America--and Spawned a Global Crisis, Michael Hudson outlined how you were allegedly complicit in the breaking of multiple states ethics laws.
Were you party to the breaking of those ethics laws as is alleged?
8) Why did you lie to Jim and Margery about your support of Project Labor Agreements?
In a July, 2010 appearance on the Jim and Margery show, you told a caller like myself that Unions weren't getting special attention from your administration through the enactment of Project Labor Agreements. Yet four months earlier you told the Building Trades Council that you were going to put a Project Labor Agreement on every construction project you could. The conservative blog Red Mass Group has compiled both pieces of audio, and video. Why did you lie to Jim, Margery and a caller like me?
Let us know if you get through with one of these questions. We'll put the audio up tomorrow.
