Gosule: Governor Patrick is not going to sign Melissa's bill but send it back with Amendment

by: Rob "EaBo Clipper" Eno

Sat Jul 28, 2012 at 10:43:08 AM EDT

Les Gosule just announced on WCRN AM 830's DaTechGuy Radio Program, that Governor Patrick will not sign Melissa's bill, but send it back with amendment.  The amendment will allow judges to "use discretion" with parole for third time offenders.  Virtually gutting the main provision of the bill.

Gosule was in studio as a guest of the earlier show "Conservatively Speaking", hosted by Tom Wesley and John Weston.

The legislature only has two days left to override the governor's amendment.  The governor then has 10 days to veto or sign the bill.  IF he vetoes there are no formal sessions left to override the veto.

Governor Patrick seems to be playing a game to run out the clock and not sign this legislation.

Video of Gosule's announcement is below.

Does the Guvna (0.00 / 0)
have the authority to "attach an amendment" to a bill?

Running Out the Clock (0.00 / 0)
If our vertically-challenged Governor ever played basketball, he would have run a four corners offense. This is just a shameful stall tactic...let's hope he doesn't "run out the clock" on innocent kids.

Is anyone surprised? (0.00 / 0)
Gov. Patrick chooses the criminal over the citizen once again.

This move joins the list with his rejection of Secure Communities; advancement of CORI reform which blinds employers and punishes them for asking about criminal arrests; reduced mandatory sentences; and licenses for illegal aliens.

The compromise three-strikes provision already was watered down to the point of near uselesness.  Now free-em-all Deval wants more discretion for judges who have been part of the problem for decades.

The compromise bill also threw out ALL of the provisions favored by the District Attorneys.  Meanwhile the governor and the liberals got what they wanted out of the bill.  While you're watching the Olympics next week, look at how short a distance the 100 yards is.  That's how close to your kids' school the drug dealers now can sell their goods.  Maybe they can use their guns as starter pistols once track season starts.  At least the governor has identified a small business he can support.
