Action Alert: House Set to Vote on Citizen's United

by: Rob "EaBo Clipper" Eno

Red Mass Group is hearing that certain Republican Legislators are Planning on voting to instruct the US Congress to pass a constitutional amendment abridging free speech, by outlawing corporate campaign acivity.  Call your Republican Legislator and tell them to vote no.  The switchboard number is 617-722-2000.

I would abstain (0.00 / 0)
This sounds like yet another non-binding feel-good vote on some hot button issue. I hate those kinds of things. If I were a Republican legislator, I would abstain from all these things.

In this case, there are so many people in this state who think Citizens United is as bad as Dredd Scott, that I can see the appeal for Democratic legislators to vote on this symbolic nonsense.

I publicly applauded this court decision, and I defend corporations and rich people all the time. I don't think any Republicans do that, and few probably want to say, as I do, that corporate involvement in politics is a good thing. So I can't see many Republicans on Beacon Hill wanting to take a position in favor of Citizens United. Seems like lots of downside, little upside.

Fortunately, this is a silly, empty, vote, so they can just skip it and that's fine with me.

(But if some legislator gets up there and has the steel to defend Citizens United, I will send a fruit basket to his office!)

Adverstise here for as low as $60 per week.
