Five Things you should know today, August 7, 2012

1. Former GOP State Committeewoman Bain hosting lunch lecture on Human Trafficking at Harvard today

Christina Bain, the former State Committewoman from the North Shore is hosting a lunch lecture on human trafficking today at Harvard.  The SHNS reports.

12:00.....Sex trafficking, slavery and organ trafficking will be on the topic at a "brown bag" lunch talk at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. Kennedy School Director of Program on Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery Christina Bain will give a historical overview and delve into local and national anti-trafficking laws. Gov. Mitt Romney appointed Bain as executive director of the Governor's Commission on Sexual and Domestic Violence, and Bain had previously worked for Lt. Gov. Kerry Healy and Gov. Jane Swift. The talk is called "A Historical Analysis of Trafficking.".....Carr Center for Human Rights Policy, 79 JFK St., Cambridge

2. LG Murray to chair Governor's Council Meeting on Sexual and Domestic Violence

This afternoon the Governor's Council will be focused on Domestic and Sexual Violence.  This is a great opportunity for the council to grill the Lieutenant Governor on the Patrick Administration's handing of the allegations surrounding Carl Stanley McGee.  McGee as you will recall was accused of sexually assaulting a 15 year old boy in a steam room in Florida, and was allowed to return to work for Governor Patrick without any substantial review.  He later settled with the boy's family, for what has been termed by a lawyer with knowledge, as in the neighborhood of ten times the average annual salary of an average American.

3. Pioneer releases payment reform graphic

The Pioneer Institute continues its fight against the Jones-Patrick healthcare payment reform law.  The have released an infographic showing what this law does.

4. Boston Talk Radio Earthquake

Rush Limbaugh is moving back to AM 680 WRKO and Talk 1200 is reportedly firing both Jeff Katz and Jay Severin.  Katz has been a strong supporter of what we do here at Red Mass Group and will be missed.  The Boston Herald has the story.

5. Activate Worcester Television Appearance

I was interviewed by the good folks at Activate Worcester last week.  The interview, which will air on cable systems across Central Massachusetts and be available on-line can be viewed here. In the close to 1/2 hour interview we talk about holding GOP members accountable, investigative reporting, Tim Murray's early morning ride, and Carl Stanley McGee amongst other things.

Here it is:

Bahahaha (0.00 / 0)
....and Talk 1200 goes kaput.

WRKO gets better signal my way anyway.  Todd needs someone with him in the morning, but McPhee's voice is like a sledgehammer to my spine.

"I acknowledge having racist and classist and sexist feelings of white male superiority." -John Howard

I will acknowledge that Rob's speaking demeanor, (0.00 / 0)
is similar to John Stossels. Vocally his octave level is oftentimes the same and his voice articulates and inflects very much the same, in particular when he interjects a "BTW".

I am going to guess that Stossel is one of Rob's mentors, listen again and pay close attention to his emphasis on certain points.

In my opinion, Stossel is one of the best ever to emulate, even if its not on purpose!
