Five Things you should know today, September 12 2012

1.  This wouldn't have happened under Moahmar

Boy that Arab Spring is sure turning out swell.  The folks from Al Qaeda we helped topple Mummhar Quadafi just killed the U.S. Ambassador to Libya. The Boston Herald.

he U.S. ambassador to Libya and three American members of his staff were killed in the attack on the U.S. consulate in the eastern city of Benghazi by protesters angry over a film that ridiculed Islam's Prophet Muhammad, Libyan officials said Wednesday.

They said Ambassador Chris Stevens was killed Tuesday night when he and a group of embassy employees went to the consulate to try to evacuate staff as the building came under attack by a mob guns and rocket propelled grenades.

2. Sheldon is Nominee in 9th, Chaprales Concedes

According to multiple media reports, Chris Sheldon pulled ahead of Adam Chaprales in the 9th Congressional district Republican primary yesterday.  Sheldon is now up by 79 votes.  The deadline to file for recounts was Monday.  Only Sheldon filed for recounts and only in precincts that were good for him.  Brock Cordeiro has told Red Mass Group that Adam Chaprales has agreed to forego a recount and has released the Sheldon Campaign from their recount requests.

Chris Sheldon is the nominee.

3. Speaking of Recounts - Aguiar/Silvia recount today

The recount in the race between Representative Aguiar and Alan Silvia is happening today.  According to sources close to the Silvia campaign his lead has increased after un machine read ballots were counted. He now holds a greater than 20 vote lead.  The winner of this race will not face a Republican primary.  Silvia is the more conservative of the two candidates who ran a campaign against the Beacon Hill Machine, including Speaker Bob DeLeo.

Disclosure: Alan Silvia is a direct mail client of mine.

4. Thing you should like: Karen Barry's Facebook page

While I'm dissapointed in Dan Webster both for the trouble he finds himself in, and for leaving the House, where he has been a consistent conservative voice, I am becoming more optimistic about Karen Barry's chances.  Putting together over 700 write-in votes against an incumbent in less than two weeks is a significant feat.  She's gotten a late start, and can use all the help you can give her.  A good start would be to "LIKE" her Facebook Page.

5. EDubs changing strategy with less than two months to go

When you have a mere two months left to your campaign, it really isn't the time to change strategy.  Yet that is exactly what the Boston Globe is reporting the Elizabeth Warren campaign is going to do.

According to top Democratic leaders in Massachusetts, Warren campaign advisers are considering a new strategy that will be aimed at toning down what those leaders call the preachy tone that has dominated her ads until now. Instead, some of the spots would rely more on the voices of voters from all walks of life describing what Warren's supporters say is the warm personality of a popular university professor. They would also zero in on Brown, acknowledging that while he is a likable public figure, he is not the moderate Republican that he makes himself out to be.

Television ads are considered critical to wooing independent voters in one of the most hotly contested Senate races nationwide.

The Warren campaign said Tuesday that no decisions have been made, but advisers conceded they have been feeling pressure regarding the thrust of the media strategy in these final weeks. Warren's team - including media consultant and former Clinton aide Mandy Grunwald and top adviser Doug Rubin - has been huddled in meetings considering options.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall for those meetings, wouldn't you?

Just read about Elizabeth Warren's strategy change.... (0.00 / 0)
This is a sure sign of a big problem.  Elizabeth Warren is simply not likeable!  I have been saying it for many months now.  She truly comes off as the nagging know-it-all that wants you to do what she says and shut up....

She uses very harsh rhetoric such as 'throwing rocks' and 'getting hammered'.  But here is the glitch for her.  If she suddenly markets herself as miss Goodie Two Shoes she will disappiont those on the left that want her to be a fighter.

I am running an opinion piece very soon in my local paper.  I will explain that in this age of do-nothing Congress we need someone who can be an 'aisle-crosser' and not a rock thrower.

Lastly, if there is a major message change at this point int he game - it means big big trouble in her polling numbers.

We are headed for a 'Fiscal Cliff' and the country just elected a dope whose motto is 'Forward'.

2010 Candidate and Danvers Selectman Dan Bennett (R) will challenge Ted Speliotis in November. Bennett lost by a 51-48% margin in 2010.
