Five Things you should know today, September 17, 2012

by: Rob "EaBo Clipper" Eno

Mon Sep 17, 2012 at 08:40:05 AM EDT

1. Happy Birthday Occupy

The Occupy Wall Street movement turns one today.  The Mass GOP has released a web video congratulating the movement and it's "intellectual" foundress, Elizabeth Warren.

2. Uncle Ben is printing money, indefinitely

Ben Bernanke has announced that the Federal Reserve will start an open ended Quantitative Easing Three.  The Fed will continue to print money, increase inflation, and drive down the value of American's savings, all in the name of helping the economy.  These guys can explain it better.

3. Polling shows race still tied

Two polls came out this weekend in the U.S. Senate race.  The first was by Western New England University which showed Elizabeth Warren with a 6 point lead.  The poll was started on the night of Barack Obama's speech to the Democratic National Committee. The pollsters claim this did not skew the results, which can be viewed here.

Public Policy Polling which, despite being a Democratic firm, has very good polling.  Shows the race remains essentially tied.  With Warren showing a two point lead.  The poll can be viewed here.

There will be a Suffolk Poll released tonight at 11 PM during the 7News nightcast.

4. Brown-Warren polling good for our legislative candidates

Our strongest legislative candidates are in areas where Scott Brown is expected to outperform the statewide average.  The recent polling released shows that trend is likely to continue.  As GoLocal Worcester reports, Brown is maintaining a significan lead in Central Massachusetts, where our best chances continue to lie.

In Central Mass, however, Brown still commands a sizable lead of 50-38, with 12 percent of those surveyed still undecided on the highly-contested Senate race.

The strong support for Brown in the region is in line with his performance during the 2010 special election in which he defeated Attorney General Martha Coakley to succeed the late Ted Kennedy in representing the Commonwealth in Washington.

5. Super Saturday, Worcester RMG Canvassing

This Saturday is a Super Saturday for the MassGOP coordinated campaign.  The Young Republicans and Red Mass Group readers will be meeting at the Worcester Victory office on Saturday Morning to begin a day of canvassing.  More information will be forthcoming later in the week, but keep your calendar open.

If Uncle Ben can't find 40Bill in new mortgage securities to buy every month.. do ya think their friends in HUD will require the banks to lower the restrictions on lending?
