Slugging it out in Springfield; No new ground, no knockouts

by: Karl Marx

( - promoted by Rob "EaBo Clipper" Eno)

Nothing extraordinary came through the radio from the only U.S. Senate debate in western Massachusetts. It was clear from fever pitch that the audience was definitely pro-Warren, hardly a surprise given that western MA is deep blue. But Brown held his own. Yes he did make Dodd-Frank possible in one of the more tougher bumps for Brown. Warren didn't land a solid punch. In fact she's becoming tedious. She cannot, as Senator Brown, asked pointedly in this debate, put down her hammer.

Warren is a walking Democratic talking point. Who really cares about Grover Norquist, Massachusetts native anyway?

Did any candidate move the needle for any of the vaunted independents? The next debate will be more telling.

I thought Scott undid himself on regulation. (5.00 / 1)
He criticized Warren for job killing regulation.  Immediately after he's patting himself on the back for voting for her signature regulatory achievement.  He was the deciding vote on the CFPB?  Was that what he said?

He hardly undid himself. What he did was avoid the trap set for (0.00 / 0)
him by the Democrats that he votes with the GOP 100% of the time. It wasn't his best moment. But neither will bring up the fact that CFPB is a redundant bureaucracy that's good at spending money! As for recouping overcharges from the credit card companies, does Liz Warren think that rates aren't going to go up to cover for deadbeats?

Yeah but, he seemed to be taking ownership of it. (0.00 / 0)
Warren says this is hers?  No! It's mine!

So the question you end with could be, "Does Scott Brown think that rates aren't going to go up to cover for deadbeats?"

You are a total miss (0.00 / 0)
This is the 5 college area, so why did Warren say it was only 4 - one fifth does not count, ouch?

Warren touts this higher education for our future, an investment in precision technology. What does precision technology have to do with five liberal arts colleges and only one a public research and land-grant university?

Please go over the debate again and find the fifty or so mistakes Warren made, try again.

Colleges - there are a lot more than 5 (0.00 / 0)
In the Northampton/Amherst area you have the 5 colleges - but then there is

Holyoke community college
greenfield community college
Williams

and a lot more.

Precision Technology - right - Warren could pick out a CNC lathe in a field of Belgian endive.

Mt. Holyoke IS one of the "5 Colleges" in the… (0.00 / 0)
... system!  UMass, Smith, Amherst, and Hampshire Colleges being the other 4.

"5 college system" is the name for the co-op like agreement they have were students can attend one, but take classes at all five.

I think.. (0.00 / 0)
she was saying 4 community colleges in the area?

It was sort of mumbled because she was talking about CC, then to universities, then went back to 4 CC's,

[ Parent ]
Community Colleges in Western MA (0.00 / 0)
there are (5)

Berkshire
Greenfield
Holyoke
Springfield
Stockbridge @Umass

I was just thinking - Warren and her husband teach one class a semester - for 700K - then don't they get a paid year off every six years ?

[ Parent ]
thanks (0.00 / 0)
Forgot about Stockbridge myself..

I thought Warren was supposed to be a great debater? (0.00 / 0)
She needs to put Brown away not go the distance.  Warren needs to do what Mitt Romney did to President Obama, and win by a wide margin.  Force the news cycles to report a big fat huge win for Warren and a big fat huge loss for Brown.  Warren's campaign needs a legit win and she didn't get that last night.

For example - check out Patrick's comments above.  Patrick's silver lining from last night is "pffffffff - yeah well F-ing Brown looks like he's taking credit for Warren's Achievement" (creating Gov Agency #857152).

"Warren says this is hers?  No! It's mine!" - Patrick

That is shit right there.  That' Patrick importing BlueMassGroup talking points into this blog => http://bluemassgroup.com/2012/...

"It wouldn't have passed if I wasn't the deciding vote..." arrogantly delivered, and really reacted to by the crowd as such. Also, it brought to my mind, "I'm the Decider." - Lynne @ 8:03 pm EST ( 9+ / 0-)

Warren's Campaign needs to be in the driver's seat if they want to win this one.  She needs something big and I'm not talking about pointing to Brown's non-partisan voting record and saying 'look how arrogant he looks!'  Playing that card only rally's your base.  What the Indy's see is "Damned if he does, Damned if he doesn't"  When Brown votes against the Dems he partisan, When he votes with the Dems he's "arrogant."

Brown's campaign is in the driver's seat.  He dictates the stories the media writes, he forced Warren's campaign to change their strategy 50 days before the election, and he defined Elizabeth Warren as the fake Indian.
