Pravda Columnist Denigrates Obama As A "Communist"

by: The Angelic One

Sat Dec 29, 2012 at 15:30:25 PM EST

This lousy year can't end soon enough for me. But I'm going to end it with a laugh. Remember this editorial from last month's Pravda? In "Obama's Soviet Mistake", columnist Xavier Lerma excoriates The One with these bon mots:

Recently, (Barack) Obama has been re-elected for a 2nd term by an illiterate society and he is ready to continue his lies of less taxes while he raises them. He gives speeches of peace and love in the world while he promotes wars as he did in Egypt, Libya and Syria. He plans his next war is with Iran as he fires or demotes his generals who get in the way

(B)ut liberalism is a psychosis. O'bomber even keeps the war going along the Mexican border with projects like "fast and furious" and there is still no sign of ending it. He is a Communist without question promoting the Communist Manifesto without calling it so. How shrewd he is in America. His cult of personality mesmerizes those who cannot go beyond their ignorance. They will continue to follow him like those fools who still praise (Vladimir) Lenin and (Josef) Stalin in Russia.  Obama's fools and Stalin's fools share the same drink of illusion.

Russia lost its' civil war with the Reds and millions suffered torture and death for almost 75 years under the tyranny of the United Soviet Socialist Republic. Russians survived with a new and stronger faith in God and ever growing Christian Church. The question is how long will the once "Land of the Free" remain the United Socialist States of America? Their suffering has only begun. Bye bye Miss American Pie! You know the song, you hippies. Sing it!

I remember how my jaw dropped when I read this last November. Never mind that the writer has some of his facts wrong. Never mind that he worships the ever-authoritarian Vladimir Putin. Never mind that he downplays the greater systemic problems that face Russia (an alarming decline in the country's population and an equally alarming increase in the mortality rates for Russian men, for example) than those that face America. A column published in Pravda - Pravda! - denouncing Obama as a "communist" while equating Putin with Ronald Reagan goes beyond the realm of satire (let alone irony). But it provides a good laugh as a way to close off this abysmal year and that's good enough for me.

A Comment On The Pravda Op-Ed From One Of My Friends (0.00 / 0)
Just curious how, despite having an example of how the biggest socialist experiment in history failed, the US appears to want to ignore it. Russia is now acknowledging the stupidity of socialism and embracing capitalism while we bankrupt ourselves. Obama was voted back in by two factions: short-sighted idealists and under-achieving entitlists who believe the promise that they will get things they haven't worked for. Socialism is scary and will bankrupt us. Russia has learned this. China has learned this. Europe is learning this. America will learn this, but at what cost?

Oliver Stone: Obama "A Wolf" In "Sheep's Clothing" (0.00 / 0)
Filmmaker Oliver Stone shares his disillusionment about The One to an interviewer from Russia Today :

Russia Today: (Y)ou give a harsh critique of the Obama administration. What in your eyes has been the most troubling aspect of his presidency, Oliver?

Oliver Stone: I think under the disguise of sheep's clothing he has been a wolf. That because of the nightmare of the Bush presidency that preceded him, people forgave him a lot. He was a great hope for change. The color of his skin, the upbringing, the internationalism, the globalism, seemed all evident. And he is an intelligent man. He has taken all the Bush changes he basically put them into the establishment, he has codified them. That is what is sad. So we are going into the second administration that is living outside the law and does not respect the law and foundations of our system and he is a constitutional lawyer, you know. Without the law, it is the law of the jungle.  Nuremburg existed for a reason and there was a reason to have trials, there is a reason for due process - 'habeas corpus' as they call it in the United States.

Inspired By Its Public Sector Overlords (0.00 / 0)
Facebook is now censoring pro-freedom & pro-liberty quotes. Sure, as a private company it can do that. The fact that it choses to do so is a sad reflection of its cynicism, its sense of political-correctness, & its sense of financial expediency.

cry about oppression!

Seems to usually be the case.

My guess, without even looking into this, is Facebook doesn't allow hyperlinks in images posted because it's defacto free direct advertising, something they expect you to pay for as a "commercial" page, org or website.

They're actually pretty lenient about the posting of images, many of which are probably copyright violations as is, that are intended on getting you to follow the image back to a page, read about it, and possibly follow the "site link" there.  So they're already looking the other way.

It's Noticeable (0.00 / 0)
Other websites have drawn attention to Facebook's herky-jerky censorship practices. Brett Wilkins had this to say:

Most, if not all, of the suspended accounts have been reactivated. Facebook has not issued any statements explaining its actions.

In the past, Facebook has explicitly warned journalists not to post political opinions on the social media site. Infowars reporter Darrin McBreen was told to "be careful about making political statements on Facebook."

"Facebook is about building relationships not a platform for your political viewpoint," a message to McBreen from the "Facebook Team" reportedly warned. "Be careful and cognizant (sic) of what you are preaching."

The assertion that Facebook is "not a platform for political viewpoints" is baffling, considering the site is used as a campaign tool by practically every politician running for office in the United States. Just about every political cause imaginable is also promoted on Facebook.

And the drop in the Russian birth rate, and male fertility go a long ways towards explaining the adoption ban! (0.00 / 0)
Its not "tit for tat" and its not political - it is real worry about a graying population, poisoned by lack of environmental controls (at least in my opinion)

Many ordinary Russians are embarrassed by the high rate of adoptions of orphan Russian children & feel their "high quality" progeny are being "stolen" by America in order to weaken (if not humiliate) Russia itself:

In the past two decades, Americans have adopted about sixty thousand Russian children, many of them with grave medical problems. This statistic may be humiliating for Russia, and indeed it generates lot of patriotic demagoguery, but the number of unwanted orphans is hardly a matter of pride either. It may explain the defensive reaction that in Russia is not infrequently associated with "patriotism": if Russians look less kind and generous toward orphans than their counterparts in America do, let's find fault with Americans and punish them. Proponents of the ban on adoption ascribe ulterior motives to American parents: they adopt Russian kids not because they are humane, but because the American government lavishly compensates them; they want to steal our high-quality "genetic pool"; Americans mistreat or kill their adopted children. The few instances (nineteen over the past two decades) when Russian orphans died as a result of abuse by their American adoptive families invariably generate an outburst of noble fury.

Lawmaker Yekaterina Lakhova, one of the initiators of the adoption ban, was asked by a reporter if she thought Russian orphans would be worse off in America than in Russia. Her answer: "This is not the point. You're asking a wrong question.... Normally economically developed countries don't give up their children, not a single of them. I am a Russian patriot."
