Letter from Rick Green

(Final Email from Rick Green - promoted by Rob "EaBo Clipper" Eno)

This email was sent to me last night from Rick Green's campaign; I've posted it for your reading pleasure. Again, I have endorsed Rick Green chair and will vote to elect him tonight.

I wanted to thank you one more time for all your support and encouragement over the last few weeks. The positive response has been overwhelming. I believe we have the votes needed to win but the election will no doubt be close. I am honored to have the support from approximately 10 Republican Legislators, 2 Mayors, close to 20 Selectmen, City Councilors and School Committee members, close to 20 RTC and RCC Chairs and 12 RTCs and RCCs. Some of these endorsements stretch from Springfield all the way to Truro.

Tomorrow, Thursday, January 31st the election for who will be our next Chair of the Massachusetts Republican Party will take place. The election and meeting will begin at 7:00pm at the Verve Crowne Plaza located at 1360 Worcester Street in Natick. If you wish to attend, please arrive as early as 5:00pm to ensure you have a place to park.

The election is open to the public and anyone is permitted to attend. If you wish to join us, there will be "Green" supporters holding signs before the election at 5pm. Please feel free to wear the color green to show your support for "Rick Green!"

I ask all Massachusetts Republicans to do two things over the next few days and months ahead. Please be respectful of your fellow Republicans. The 'R' by our name needs to stand for 'Respect' and please join me in uniting this party. My goal from day one was to help our Republican candidates and unite the party, let's make sure that happens regardless of the outcome on Thursday.

THIS is top center page worthy?

Tomorrow we wil all be Republicans (0.00 / 0)
This race for MA-GOP chair has been the first race in recent history to be seriously contested.

On many levels this has been good for the party. It has forced a debate, some times heated, some times too polarizing, nevertheless it has been good to have it.

It should be a cautionary note to whomever the victor is. That is we everyone deserves a voice in our party. The Big Tent must mean a Big Tent. And that Big Tent must have room for the conservative base. By definition "base" means foundation. It is what upholds the rest of the structure.

Beyond the ideological debate, which is really a non-issue among the candidates as both have espoused conservative values, we've had a vigorous exchange about where the emphasis ought to be as it relates to top of the ticket vs bottom of the ticket.  While some of us have expressed concerns about this for over a decade, this is the first time, we've had a real debate and again both candidates have at least been talking about this issue, where it has been ignored in the past.

In addition, this is the first time in recent history that there has been such scrutiny of the candidates running for Chair. While in some cases individuals on both sides  (perhaps myself included) could have toned down the rhetoric, all in all it has been a positive thing. Zeal is good thing.  Fire is good thing. Of course fire needs to be kept in the fireplace. And perhaps that's lesson we can all take away from this.

All that said, first thanks to out going Chairman Maginn for his service. Best of luck to both candidates. We need both of you and the rest of us active and working no matter the outcome tonight. Thanks to both of them for putting themselves through this kind of scrutiny.

Tomorrow morning we'll have a new Chair. We will all still be Republicans. Therefore I pledge my support winner no matter who it will be.

God Bless

Ditto the above, except (0.00 / 0)
what are we thanking Maginn for again?
