Bill Galvin illegally tries to keep candidates off the U.S. Senate ballot

by: TomKinison

Thu Jan 31, 2013 at 16:19:12 PM EST

( - promoted by Paul R. Ferro)

Bill Galvin is dishonest and unconstitutional.  In the upcoming June 25, 2013 Special Election, Galvin has intentionally shortened the time frame for Candidates to collect the 10,000 signatures to make the ballot.

In the January 19, 2010 Special Election, nomination papers were available on September 1, 2009 and had to be into Local Town Clerks and Registrars SEVEN WEEKS later on October 20, 2009.  Candidates then had two weeks to turn their certified signatures into the Secretary of State's office on November 3, 2009

In this upcoming Special Election for Kerry's vacant seat, Galvin has just released the nomination papers late this afternoon (1/31/13) and has ordered that all nomination papers be turned on Wednesday February 27, 2013 only FOUR WEEKS later.  Additionally Candidates will have to turn certified signatures into the Secretary of State's office only ONE WEEK after that on March 6th.

In the last Special Election, Candidates had SEVEN weeks to collect signatures, in this election candidates only have FOUR WEEKS.

If Scott Brown only had FOUR WEEKS in the 2010 Special Election, he NEVER would have made the ballot.  This is a clear attempt by Galvin to keep Candidates off the ballot and minimize competition in favor of Markey and the Democrats.  Can you smell corruption by Bill Galvin.  I do.

Strong words backed up by no facts. (2.50 / 2)
What law has he broken (your headline says his actions are illegal)?

What is unconstitutional about this?

If Markey has to play by the same rules, how does this favor him?

You smell corruption...I see a guy with tinfoil on his head trying to hide from black helicopters.

You're right, there's no way Markey can get enough signatures either (5.00 / 1)
Looks like everyone will have to run a write-in campaign this time!

Galvin is in violation of Massachusetts Law Chapter 53, sections 28 and 48 (0.00 / 0)
Go look them up Marlarkey.  Galvin not only screwed Republicans, he screwed Democrats as well.  Galvin arbitrarily decided these dates.  Secretary Bill Galvin is dishonest, corrupt, and Anti-Democratic.

[ Parent ]
Ya gonna have to be more specific... (0.00 / 0)
...what exactly do these laws state and what did Galvin do to break them?  And NO, I'm not going to spend the time to look it up.  Your blowing all the hot air, you need to lay out your case.  So far you've given us nothing.

[ Parent ]
Hey Marlarkey... You are a moron. Google Mass General Laws Chapter 53, Sections 28 and 48. I don't have time to type them out you lazy fu_k. (0.00 / 1)

[ Parent ]
I did and realized... (0.00 / 0)
...it would take me another hour to read through the law...if you want to make a case, instead of resorting to to swearing, cite the specific sentence / paragraph of the law you say he's breaking.  If your not willing to do that, it confirms your all talk and no walk.

[ Parent ]
NO Malarkey (0.00 / 0)
It confirms you are a lazy piece of _ _ _ _ that can't be bothered to prove your contention that the author is wrong and you are right.  Until proven otherwise, you lose your argument, but we all know the objective here was to stir the pot with a bunch of malarky and BS.  How bout you don't waste our time unless you have a valid point to make?  Let me thank you in advance.

[ Parent ]
I tried to find the specific line too (0.00 / 0)
And I gave up, there were too many things but none of them obviously what he was talking about.

I agree with the premise that the time frame is much shorter than it should be, and it should be extended by another four weeks. It doesn't take so long to print the ballots, what takes a long time is getting the last 9,900 signatures.

Laughable... (5.00 / 2)
You contend it is my job to provide the evidence to support someone else's argument, when they themselves are unable to provide the proof...this has been amusing, but I'm bored with dealing with 3rd grade debating skills.

[ Parent ]
Yoh DICKHEAD covers it. (0.00 / 0)
I wouldn't have responded had I read further down and saw that someone had provided, in one word, the most appropriate summation of you.  But now I HAVE to respond because you are so ridiculous.  The evidence WAS provided, and you went as far as saying you were too lazy to read through it all.  Who's in 3rd grade here?  We already know your debating skills.  Major F.A.I.L.

YO DICKHEAD!!! (0.00 / 0)
Forgive me gentle readers, I am shutting this peckerhead up once and for all!!!
How about September 14th 2010 for example.
Jim McKenna and Guy Carbone ran write-in campaigns for the Republican nomination for Attorney General of Massachusetts.
202 New Bedford Republicans cast ballots on that day. ZERO votes were counted by New Bedford Election Commissioner Maria Tomasia Massachusetts Secretary of State William Galvin certified these results. This makes them BOTH guilty of election fraud!
I have seen BOTH McKenna and Carbone stickers. Both fit perfectly in their space on the ballot!
Do you wish to tell me 202 voters screwed up their ballots that badly? We're not democrats, we can read!
Tomasia could be going to jail for election fraud. I pray Galvin follows her! But vwhat else would be news.
Simpleton/Pogo/Festus/Frank: Stick this post up your ass and die of renal failure!

Galvin has violated Mass General Law 53 Sections 28 and 48 to screw the voters and the people (5.00 / 1)

In what way were those violated? (0.00 / 0)

You write... (0.00 / 1)
"Do you wish to tell me 202 voters screwed up their ballots that badly? We're not democrats, we can read! "  If they were members of the Republican state committee, that would explain their inability to properly cast votes.

Peckerhead: (0.00 / 0)
You keep asking for it, and I'll keep delivering! As I said: "We're not democrats, we can read!" Do you need a course in english as a FIRST language?

So. . . . (0.00 / 0)
If you are correct than we can expect a legal challenge to Secretary Galvin's schedule from the state GOP or the Brown campaign or the Democrats who have announced or some other third party? Certainly an "illegal" election would generate court action on the state and federal levels. Holding our collective breath for this acton.

Secondly, I'm surprised at the concern that a former US Senator and two time statewide candidate (not to mention successful State Senate candadiate) would lack the organization necessary to meet the signature deadlne. Especially lacking any primary challenge ( I see Charlie Baker isn't running) one would think the state party would be actively collecting signatures on behalf of their nominee.

There should be a lot more time... (0.00 / 0)
And it was necessary for the ACLU to sue Galvin to put Bob Barr on the ballot, among other issues.  But it's not clear to me what the legal requirements are here.

Adverstise here for as low as $60 per week.
