If you have not heard, Sean Bielat has dropped out of the race for US Senate.  That leaves three candidates: Gabriel Gomez, Michael Sullivan, and Daniel Winslow.

Which Candidate are you supporting?  Please take the time to vote in the Poll below:

Also take the time to "like" the Facebook Pages of the candidates.

I don't means this in my usual snide way... (1.67 / 3)
..which are usually aimed at a snide Rob post...but given that all campaigns are scrambling for signatures (including the Dems), should the real poll be not who you'll support, but rather who do you think will get enough signatures?

Two are spending $100,000 to buy signatures... (5.00 / 1)
And the third has a pretty extensive network.

So, it may be close, but I think all three folks will make it.

Not that it isn't healthy to get a dose of the other side, but (5.00 / 1)
why do you go out of your way to make snide posts?  What purpose does it serve?

Separately, is anyone surprised like me to see Gomez with such a lead, especially from this group?

Can people vote more than once?

There seems to be someone at Wheaton College via the google analytics data, who is clearing a cash and voting for someone...

I was shocked to see Gabriel Gomez have a lead so large especially here.

"why do you go out of your way to make snide posts?" - Term Limits (5.00 / 4)
It started as a hero complex.  In his mind he was fighting back against EaBo for his posts on BlueMassGroup.  So when he found out EaBo bought this blog from Patrick, Festus/Simple registered and began to "Fight back."

Fast forward to today ... the guy's been burned so many times by soooooo many people; he's now at war with half the blog.  It's personal now. Even with an anonymous handle it's still personal to him.  The infamous bet that he welched on is probably the most telling about the man behind the handle.  Festus/Simple would rather welch on a bet than admit that some conservative got the best of him.

Get inside his head RRRR, he hates that! (5.00 / 1)

One would think RRRR would hate that (getting inside Simple's head) as well. (5.00 / 1)
And if you do RRRR, wear ear plugs, I bet the echo is horrible.

I'm glad everyone likes this revisionist history... (0.00 / 0)
I was around here long before Rob took over from Patrick...so much for that theory.  But keep trying...and not so hard, it really is unbecoming.

[ Parent ]
The short answer is... (0.00 / 0)
...I give snide comments to posts or other comments that I think are snide.  Of course that is all in the eyes of the beholder.  The last example of being snide was Rob's post on Kristen Hughes' press release complaining about Markey having a fundraiser with, among scores of sponsors was a person who hired prostitutes.  So I pointed out that she did not issue a press release condemning a current US Senator who also hired prostitutes.

I have no idea (5.00 / 1)
I was leaning towards Bielat, but none of the other three really excite me that much. Guess I'll just have to wait to see what my choice ends up being.

Undecided (0.00 / 0)
I haven't heard anything about the issues or platforms. Although I'm leaning towards Gomez based on his personal story and background.

Here is what you need to know about Gomez (4.00 / 1)
He supported Obama. End of story.

I am undecided as well...... (0.00 / 0)

Mr. Sullivan's thoughts on issues (0.00 / 0)
On Micheal Sullivan's facebook page, actually, a link on the GOP Primary page right here has it, is an audio clip from last week when he was on with Jeff Kuhner. If you listen, you can hear what his views are on things like the Budget, 2nd Amendment and Gun Control, Abortion, Gay Marriage and the like. I found Mr. Sullivan to be very thoughtful and respectful when he gave his answers to Jeff.

I am supporting Mr. Sullivan. I would never support anyone who voted for Obama.

The Founding Fathers placed the Second Amendment where it is for a really good reason... so we the people are able to defend ourselves from a government which becomes tyrannical.

Someone explain to me (5.00 / 3)
why an UNKNOWN running in a very short primary campaign is avoiding the press and NOT answering policy questions?

I might like this guy very much, but I really have no respect for someone whose initial strategy coming out of the box is to avoid talking about issues.

"I'm too busy getting signatures" doesn't cut it for me.

AGREE, and (0.00 / 0)
there's a lot of other explaining needed as well.  Probably more so than for the other two candidates, but the most unsettling thing for me is, isn't he the "establishment" candidate, and didn't they already tote him around Washington before he even announced.  Could anyone give me further insight on this?

Also, ROB!  The votes for Gomez appear unprecedented.  Can we get any sense of where this is coming from and how?

[ Parent ]
Needing to be convinced... (0.00 / 0)
Given the fact that Elizabeth Warren, the most leftist moonbat this state has elected in my lifetime, TROUNCED Scott Brown, who I thought was the best politician the GOP has had since Bill Weld, I'm feeling like it is just OVER for the GOP in this state. Lost cause. No Republican can get elected to statewide office.

Someone please convince me I'm wrong. Because I have a difficult decision to make:

1. Register unenrolled and vote in the Democratic primaries from now on so that I can at least have some influence on this state's elections/politics/policies, or

2. Throw my vote away in a Republican primary for a candidate who I now know will very likely lose, regardless of his or her superior qualifications, to the candidate with the D next to his or her name.

Someone please convince me that I'm wrong for thinking this way. I'm encouraged by the amount of activism I'm seeing for Sullivan, but on the other hand, I'm really turned off by the Gomez "campaign" - if that is what this party is about, a handful of party leaders getting behind a total outsider and running what is essentially a mystery candidate and expecting to foist him on me, sending me a barrage of emails but not telling me where the guy stands, or why he voted for Obama, and not even inviting me to meet him so I can ask those questions myself - what do they take me for?

I'm a lifelong Republican, but I'd vote for someone like Steve Lynch over Gomez any day, and I fear that even the good candidates the GOP grassroots are supporting, have no shot in this state.

Any man who afflicts the human race with ideas must be prepared to see them misunderstood. - H. L. Mencken

Keep the faith ... (0.00 / 0)
MG, literally thousands of Independents (and even Dems) are people like you.  In 2012 the Obama machine was able to identify and turn out everything with a heartbeat to vote Democrat. In MA this made it so that the GOP should have been (finally) made extinct.  It was not !

I don't know whether you saw Scott Brown on O'Reilly last week.  In the segment, O'Reilly basically said the same thing as you have said in your post, but Scott, who had to face a wall of money and very difficult numbers, still said "keep the faith".

BTW for you, and the others who find Lynch a viable alternative, you may want to check the difference between his voting record and Markey's.   Not much.  Also, if you register as a Dem, you'll find yourself voting for the primary loser all the time.  The Dem primary vote in MA is getting "leftier" all the time. That may be a source of hope for the GOP.

GOP Primary - Sullivan is the Man (0.00 / 0)
I was at one of the 2nd Amendment resistance rallies today and a nice guy from Michael Sullivan's campaign was there collecting signatures to get Mr. Sullivan on the ballot. I happily signed. I heard Mr. Sullivan on Jeff Kuhner's program last week and everything he said aligns with my own views. I wish Mr. Sullivan the best and if he wins the primary, I will be working hard for him.

The Founding Fathers placed the Second Amendment where it is for a really good reason... so we the people are able to defend ourselves from a government which becomes tyrannical.

I like Mike too, but if he is pro-2nd amendment then why did the NRA protest his appointment as ATF Director? (0.00 / 0)
Mike Sullivan is a great candidate like the others running, but if he is pro-2nd amendment then why did the NRA and Louisianna Republican Senator Vitter against Sullivan's appointment as Director of the ATF?

[ Parent ]
Because the NRA doesn't want anyone at the ATF who (0.00 / 0)
would actually enforce the laws.

Make sense not to enforce laws? (0.00 / 0)
Then what the hell is the point?

[ Parent ]
No, he means it makes sense that the NRA (0.00 / 0)
Would want a ATF head who wasn't as dutiful as Sullivan in enforcement.

Follow me on Twitter?  Sure, why not.  www.twitter.com/paulferro

According to wikipedia... (0.00 / 0)
Sullivan has ties to gun control groups.  That may be a clue about why the NRA wasn't happy with him.

In any case, I look forward to hearing what he has to say.  In this state, it doesn't take much to be the most sensible voice on gun control

[ Parent ]
As a State Rep, Sullivan was endorsed by Goal. (0.00 / 0)
So, when he was a LEGISLATOR, he was know as being pro-gun.

What is he running for?  To be a Federal Legislator.

Sullivan's Comments on the NRA (5.00 / 1)
I've been an NRA member since 2002 and it was Sullivan's history as Acting Director of the BATF that gave me pause at first.

Here is what Michael Sullivan had to say about the NRA a couple of weeks ago:

Despite the adversarial relationship between the ATF and the NRA, [Ronald] Carter and other acting directors described their relationship with the gun rights advocacy group as cordial.

"The limited interactions we did have, I thought were very productive," said Michael Sullivan, who served as acting director of the ATF from 2006 to 2009.

"The (firearm) industry wants to get it right," Sullivan said. "We did have a few opportunities when we met with the NRA to talk about things that they thought were potentially problematic or areas where they were questioning some of the positions that the ATF was taking."
