Murray must strip Marzilli of his Chairmanship

by: Rob "EaBo Clipper" Eno

Thu Jul 31, 2008 at 19:55:39 PM EDT

In 4 hours the legislative session will be over for the year.  Jim Marzilli, who has vowed to not work another day for his pay, is still collecting money for a committee chairmanship that he is not fulfilling the duties of.  That Chairmanship costs the taxpayer $7500 on an annual basis.  There are 5 months left in the year, which means Marzilli is scheduled to receive $3,125 for his no-show chairmanship.

The Senate President Theresa Murray can remove him from this post at any time.  She should do so tonight.

President Murray, save us $3,125 now and whatever percent of it per anum down the road in a pension.  Save us this money now.

$7500!?!?!?!? (0.00 / 0)
I don't like it.  I don't like it one bit.  Chairs get more money????  That's not the way the U.S. Congress works.  EaBo, where did you get this number?  I want to see them all.   There are dozens of committees, who else is on the take?  Talk about corruption, this kind of thing STINKS!

That there is what you call (0.00 / 0)
straight-faced sarcasm.

That avoids the issue completely.

You do believe that he should continue to be paid every penny for th rest of the legislative session even though he has no intention of showing up for work. Don't you?

I should call out from work today (0.00 / 0)
and see if Marzilli will try to get them to pay me still.

And leadership positions get paid more too (0.00 / 0)
Which included 4 out of 5 GOP state senators.

As always the extra pay is unnecessary, but the real killer is how it comes back to bite you again and again in their pensions when they retire.

Where's the info? (0.00 / 0)
Who is getting what?  Seriously, the U.S. Congress doesn't play this game with Leadership and Chairmanships getting paid more.  Please name some names! (And the extra cash that they are getting.)

[ Parent ]
The words "Marzilli" and "strip" should never be used in the same sentance. n/t (0.00 / 0)

Ed Markey is now the official 'cheapest' man on earth.  1.5 percent to charity while the average American gave 3 times as much...
