Barney Keller Leaving For Lazio Campaign

by: Garrett Quinn

Tue May 26, 2009 at 11:19:02 AM EDT

In a press release issued this morning Barney Keller, Communications Director for the Massachusetts Republican Party, announced  he was leaving for a position with Rick Lazio's campaign for New York governor.

The general election should be a breeze against David Patterson but Lazio may have a tough time in the GOP primary if former New York City mayor Rudy Guliani enters the race.

Keller's departure is not surprising given the recent changing of the guard at the Mass GOP. Former executive director Rob Willington left several months ago to work with Patrick Rufini on RebuildTheParty.com

Congrats, You Will Be Missed (5.00 / 2)
I had the pleasure of working with Barney when he was an intern at the MassGOP back when I was political director in 2006.

He was one of the hardest working interns in MassGOP history (and we have had some rock stars) and he knew how/where to get solid information.  He was a pit bull on the Ogonowski Congressional race and then he came back to the MassGOP, this time as Comms Director.

We will miss Barney's work and commitment in Massachusetts and I wish him well in New York with Lazio's campaign.  I know we will see Barney back in Massachusetts fighting the good fight soon.

Barney! Great job! (0.00 / 0)
Go learn some stuff then come back here and run for something.

Rob too!

You guys have the most campaign experience, you should be grabbing some seats here!

we will all miss his style, willingness to take on all comers, and ease of working with him.  Watch Barney in the future---he has lots to offer.  christy

Thanks for Doing a Great Job in Massachusetts Barney! (0.00 / 0)
When the chips were down, Barney Keller would poke the Dems in their pork-laden bellies.  We need more spit and vinegar activists like Barney in Massachusetts.  Barn, we'll miss your talent, wit, courage and humanity.  Remember your friends in Massachusetts after you kick Patterson's butt in NY!  Good luck in the next chapter.
