| Massachusetts Democrats have just wasted over $32 million in Federal Stimulus Money meant to fund water treatment projects. The The Boston Globe reported today that Massachusetts is receiving $185 million in stimulus money for water treatment upgrades.
As previously reported by Red Mass Group the Beacon Hill Institute has said that by their analysis of every 100 dollars spent on public works projects in Massachusetts $17.7 is wasted. That is due to the higher cost of the Massachusetts prevailing wage in comparison to the Federal prevailing wage. Using the Beacon Hill Institute's estimates that means that of the $185 million in public works money being spent a staggering $32.75 Million will be wasted.
Last week the Republican Leadership in the House of Representatives submitted an amendment to suspend the Massachusetts prevailing wage on all Stimulus funded projects. The Republican leadership was unable to force a vote when they fell one member short of the 15 needed to do so. Not one Democrat stood up for the tax payers to force a vote on the issue.
The facts are clear, the Massachusetts Democratic Party has just wasted in the past 48 hours $32,745,000. |
