Congressman Tierney, a no-show at rival's town hall meeting on health care

by: Karl Marx

Sun Aug 30, 2009 at 10:29:21 AM EDT

Citizens for Limited Taxation is reporting that Congressman Tierney was a no-show at yesterday's "Town Hall" meeting sponsored by a Republican rival Bill Hudak.

The Kennedy funeral could be one reason why Tierney side-stepped yesterday's event which was attended by approximately 200 people in Danvers. However, as CLT notes, Tierney has been studiously avoided attending any Town Halls in his district.

By the way Bill Hudak is an impressive candidate who can articulate the issues. Keep an eye on him. His star is rising.

Unbelievable, Incredible, Mind Blowing... (0.00 / 0)
...that someone would NOT ATTEND a campaign event held by his opponent.  Wow, thanks for the newsflash.

Well Mr. Festus (0.00 / 0)
When is your Democratic hero going to hold a town meeting. What does he fear?

Gotta Agree (0.00 / 0)
I have to agree with Festus on this one as well, no one should really have expected the Congressman to attend a meeting set up by a rival.

That said, if said Congressman - and his colleagues - are avoiding the people and refusing to hold such meetings then shame on them!

Whatever your thoughts about Barney Frank, at least he attended a forum (organized by Dartmouth Democrats but open to all) and took on all questions.

If your Congressman hasn't stood up before the voting public then it's past time to turn up the heat in the media & demand that you receive adequate representation and respect!

Good answer KM (0.00 / 0)
Naturally he didn't go and I don't blame him. But why doesn't he do a Town Hall already! Delahunt in my district hasn't done any either.

Nearly everyone in the delegation has done one, even the guys who have districts that aren't even CLOSE to being competitive. Come on Delahunt and Tierney, have a meeting and listen to people, you might learn something and you might teach something too! Its Massachusetts, we've got civil folks here and have always had informed debate... what are you afraid of?!
