Expect Decision From Scott Brown On US Senate Next Week

by: Rob "EaBo Clipper" Eno

Wed Sep 02, 2009 at 06:07:51 AM EDT

State House News is reporting that Scott Brown will make a decision on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week regarding the US Senate seat left vacant by the Death of Senator Kennedy.

Sen. Scott Brown, eyed as a prospective Republican candidate to fill the late Sen. Edward Kennedy's Senate seat, said Tuesday he was looking at a campaign, but called Kennedy's death still to near to discuss the idea publicly.

"I still feel that it's too soon," Brown said. "The Kennedy family and Sen. Kennedy himself deserve a week to honor him." Pressed, he said, "I'm doing some due diligence. I'm doing some inquiring with my wife and family ... It's something I'm certainly, I think, like every politician is, thinking about it, but I'm not ready to make any firm statements until Tuesday or Wednesday of next week."

My prediction is that Scott gets in this race on one of those days.

Coincidental (4.50 / 2)
Coincidentally, Wednesday would be the next meeting of the Massachusetts Republican State Committee.

If Senator Brown decides to announce a decision, especially that he's jumping into the race, then I look forward to hearing about it next week.

I heard Brown (0.00 / 0)
Speak last night with Michele McPhee.  One thing that caught my attention is when he mentioned there will be special interest money poured into this election.

We can take reasonable guesses who is supporting Coakley, et.al.  Can we expect any support from the GOP outside this state?  How much money are we talking about here? (1, 2, 5 million).  Do I have to start calling people in Texas to make this happen ?:)

And just a side note....brownforsenate.com....looks like it's already parked by some squatter already.

his current campaign site (0.00 / 0)
is www.scottbrown4senate.com

Not sure if he'd need a whole new site, or just change what's on the current one.

I'm not an expert on Scott Brown's websites but I believe it's his usual campaign site for State Senate.

It is his state senate site (0.00 / 0)
I was just pointing out that his site's name was generic enough that he could just change the content for a US Senate run.

NRSC? (4.00 / 1)
You never know but the National Republican Senatorial Committee may possibly weigh in with some financial & in-kind assistance.
