Earlier today I was forwarded by an alert reader a screen-grab of what is purported to be what Christy2010.com looked like as some point during the evening of September 8, 2009. The screen-grab as it was sent to me can be seen below.
Originally I thought nothing of this. It could have been, or still could be an elaborate hoax. Although the person who emailed this to Red Mass Group is pretty adamant that they took the screen grab and forwarded it to us. What began to change my mind was listening to Howie Carr on the way home. He mentioned that Christy's campaign staff had purchased Christyforsenate.com and that people had seen an announcement on Christy's current website on Tuesday evening. The timeline given by Howie Carr seems to corroborate the story I was told by our reader.
Furthermore the Boston Globe today mentioned the purchase of Christyforsenate.com as well.
Yes, Mihos is back in the gubernatorial running. This after telling the Globe on Tuesday night that he was "just about there'' in his decision to switch gears and run for Edward M. Kennedy's Senate seat instead. His campaign team went out and registered the website christyforsenate.com.
Also attached to the email was a WHOIS domain registration lookup for the domain www.christyforsenate.net. This WHOIS domain registration lists Mihos For Governor as the registrant of the domain. This domain has since been changed to a "domain by proxy" effectively hiding the registrant information.
This screen-grab corroborates the Boston Globe story.
The whole affair of the short-lived Mihos campaign for Senate is an odd series of events. I talked to a couple of reporters yesterday that confirmed to me that Mihos' communications director Kevin Sowyrda would be so adamant in his statements to State House News, if Christy had not told him he is running. It is not believable to me that the "story got away" from the Mihos campaign.
Perhaps we'll never know the true story, but it sure is an odd series of events. |
