Please Join Me and Many Others In Howie Carr Sponsor Protest

by: Ernie Boch, III

Thu Oct 01, 2009 at 15:01:43 PM EDT

(This boycott is silly. Red Mass Group does not support the boycott of Howie Carr or his advertisers. Michael's Deli is awesome.   - promoted by Garrett)

Hello again RMG. I have been championing the cause to boycott Howie Carr radio advertisers.
There are many many people in Boston who have listened to and read him for 20 plus years and do not need an explanation of why he is different from Jay Severin, Bill O'Reilly, Michael Graham, Keith Obelman, Rush Limbaugh, Hannify, Jim Braude, Gerry Callahan, Don Imus..... Of course they have all been impolite at times. Impoliteness is what fuels my posts for crissakes.

But Howie is much different. He lacks a sense of decency which  and we don't need explanations

This protest has to move beyond "lefty bloggers".

Regular people and customers have to tell Bob Sheridan, Sal Bertolami, Dennis Drinkwater and others that "Hey, Howie's just not a good guy."

What goes around comes around and it is time that us Bostonians band together and let him know that although funny and intelligent his motis operandi is not appreciated by any person with decency. Throwing punch after punch after punch at a guy already knocked down and given the ten count is beyond classless. The constant fat jokes about George Keverian back in the day; the ready to pounce when a small time politician family member gets into to trouble; the bizarre repetitive attacks on Tom Finneran.

The track girls don't do that.

Time for Bostonians to join forces and finally do the right thing.

Ernie Boch, III :: Please Join Me and Many Others In Howie Carr Sponsor Protest
There is nastiness, then there is nastiness.

Red Mass Group and Blue Mass Group are pioneers in a new kind of communication and perhaps journalism.

As many of you know, I am the anti-BMGer. I have been nothing but a pimple on their ass since day one. They tolerate me.

The reason I say this is because this is boycott is not about political philosophy. It's about decency.

Below are e-mail addresses for Howie Carr radio advertisers.

If you agree please let them know how you feel.

Have you apologized to Boch Dealership? (0.00 / 0)
For the headache your "username" has caused.  See article below...

No (0.00 / 0)
No need to.

The issue is about Howie, not Boch

for you, maybe (5.00 / 3)
but Boch took just as much heat.  I think you owe him an apology for initiating this while hiding behind his name.

And to think to piss someone off, I just had to pick a name like Larry Novak Jr.

I Like Howie Carr (0.00 / 0)
I'd listen to him even without the advertising :)

Oh quick, sign me up for your BowelMovementGroup protest...... (0.00 / 0)
Let me ask you a question - Why do you use Ernie Boch's name?  And further, why protest the good companies that simply want to advertise on Howie Carr's show?  Have you not seen enough companies hurt in this Devoid Patrick economy?

Do you think you are some kind of hero because you got your name in the paper?  "Hey everyone, look at me, I was mentioned in the Globe!".

Go sell crazy somewhere else loser.

Was there more to that comment Festus? (0.00 / 0)
Is that your 'A' game?  "Gee, he asked more questions than he said he would.  Boo Hoo Hoo!"

I thought you retreated to BowelMovementGroup discussions in order to feel more at home with the other bowel movements.

I leave my A game at home... (0.00 / 0)
...when responding to your comments...that is necessary given your level of critical thinking...

[ Parent ]
Ya know, when it comes to critical thinking........ (5.00 / 1)
everyone that thinks critically knows that Savings Bank Life Insurance is one of the best investments they can make.  You should visit the SBLI website to learn more about their many 'No Nonsense' life insurance policies.  Don't do it for me, but do it because Tedy Bruschi endorses SBLI and we love Tedy Bruschi.

Oh wait a minute - all the bowel movements over at BMG want to boycott Tedy Bruschi because he endorses SBLI.  Well, that proves they aren't real patriots!

[ Parent ]
I (0.00 / 0)
have done business with SBLI for over 10 years and will continue to do so.

I'll contact SBLI let them know MY opinion, and tell them to ignore the douchenozzles of BMG or any other fringe left loons.

I think you're more of a punch drinker than you think, Ernie (0.00 / 0)
As much as I think you'd like to pride yourself as the voice of reason on the distant planet that is Blue Mass Group, I can't help but think you're probably still going to pull the lever for Patrick next year... which means you're pretty far in the bag.

As for the Carr protest, really? I've never liked it when Howie made for of Keverian for his weight or being overly abusive in his taunts either, but who else out there is blowing the whistle on the hackerama? I don't always agree with him, but we need some other voices in a state with the Boston Globe and a State House thats more like an echo chamber.

Massachusetts liberals have been adamant about eliminating opposing voices over the years: look at our legislature, look at the academy, look in the media. Howie is one of the last ones standing. Don't try to pretend its because Howies a big meanie(Gosh EB3, I'm so sorry that he hurts you're little feelings), because we've all seen you throw around some insults over at BMG. I'm thinking that perhaps maybe its because you don't like the ideological viewpoint Howie has, and you're more of a "lets-drown-out-all-dissent progressive" than you think. Naturally you can throw out some of the snide and perpetually smug lines here that your famous (or infamous and a pimple on the ass) for, but Ernie at the end of the day, who are you really kidding?

Howie Carr (0.00 / 0)

I'm listening to Howie right now! And savoring dinner at the Hannover Street Chop House.

Ernie: Why don't you call in to the chump line and tell Howie directly?

Ernie Boch III, I'm sure you reside with the rest of the anonymous... (5.00 / 1)

spineless, muckrakers who hide behind their blog identities.  So how is the weather in

You don't get the government you want, you get the government you deserve

One of my favorite radio programs... (0.00 / 0)
...was brought down by a boycott this year, World Soccer Daily. The reasons for the boycott of WSD were more serious than the ones that Ernie Boch III has for boycotting Howie Carr.

This is nonsense.

"The prediction here is that RMG will peter out in a couple of months." - Adam Reilly, 2/28/2007

I've never seen so many boycotts all at once (5.00 / 1)
In the last 60 days, I've heard for boycotts of
Whole Foods (Because their owner has an opinion)
Glenn Beck (Because he has lots of opinions)
Hyatt (Because they laid off some workers)
Howie Carr (Still not sure why...not really a regular listener)

And there were a few other less notable ones. People are free to spend their time and money anyway they want (at least for now anyway...who knows what's in store when this congress gets done), but is it really making a difference?

Is whole foods or any of the others felt the sting of the mighty boycott?  In some cases it actually helps the subject of the Boycott...Beck's numbers are better than ever.  I really think folks think they can sink the battleship with spitballs.  And if the boycott is coming from a political ideology often the other side goes out of their way to generate business for the object of the boycott (the anti-boycott).

Targeting a small deli who is just trying to make a buck advertising on a popular radio show...classy.  I may have to go by and get a sandwich now.

All part of my sinister plot.... (2.50 / 2)
to ruin Soccer for all it's fans!

Muahahahahaha!

BTW, if this is silly, Garrett, why put it on the Front Friggin' Page!

Hello??

[ Parent ]
somehow I get the feeling (0.00 / 0)
that after reading the comments on his diary, EB3 will decide that he enjoys blogging on RMG even more than on BMG. Seriously, this website gets more and more hilarious everyday, personally I don't know what I'd do without the daily comic relief over here. Nothing lightens a work day like perusing the ol' RMG front page.

Don't worry guys, the phrases 'moonbat' and 'bowel movement group' are still funny and full of wit, I sure think they are! ;)

I get equally amused (5.00 / 1)
Reading some of the same kind of broad generalizations and name calling over at BMG.  There are some great people who make well reasoned arguments (as there are here), sadly many do not fall into that category.

Ahh..the Left is trying to bring back the Fairness Doctrine (0.00 / 0)
What happen to the First Amendment Bizarro Ernie Boch? When the Left such as David Brooks, Maureen Dowd and others called George Bush repeatedly, a murderer, stupid, etc or when they called the Tea Party folks racists, extremists and dangerous, where were you to call them out and tell them they are "not good people."

Also, Howie gets the highest ratings, by far,of any other local show on the radio dial. To bully sponsors/advertisers to stop promoting their brand and services during these rough economic times is not only reckless but hurting other people's lives. Grow up. Change the dial. Or better yet? Start your own show.

Not a chance (5.00 / 1)
There is less than a 0% chance that I would boycott Howie Carr.  Heck, one of my favorite political events was a luncheon in Boston with Howie!

As early as high school, but especially in college & grad school, I would spend hours & yours listening to Howie Carr.  I'd start my day listening to G. Gordon Liddy, I'd build up to Rush Limbaugh, and then I'd wind down with Howie (when not in class...of course!).

Howie is both funny yet informative.  The only reason I listen a bit less to him nowadays is because well... around these parts we do have our own Ken Pittman on WBSM 1420 AM.  :)

Now, when (not if) Ken moves up to the big leagues and beyond my listening area... back to Howie Carr I go full time & all the time!

If anything, I'm inclined to contact those aforementioned advertisers and thank them for sponsoring the Howie Carr Show!

BOYCOTT MY ASS.........

No Thanks! (0.00 / 0)
Howie > Ernie Boch III

Don Imus Jay Sevrin (0.00 / 0)
Don Imus was actually fired not for his knappy headed hoe comment but for his other blacklisted news topics
Clean green cleaning products because the kids at the cancer ranch felt much better after using them.  AND
The autism thimerosal link.
Knappy headed hoes just provided an excuse.

Jay was also gone for a time although I can't remember over what.  Even though even Jay only touches .001% of the titanic size iceberg that should be political news I did miss his voice in the Boston airwaves.

Howie Carr, well I never listen to AM but I was disappointed when my former Russian boss spoke about the stance of Howie Carr.  I had assumed him to be much more worldly and knowledgable than that.

I am going to stage a counter protest. (5.00 / 1)
I am going to use the name and link of one of Howie's sponsors in every post I do from now on.  I am not doing it for Howie, but because I have friends at Commerce Insurance, and because I enjoy many of the products and services that are offered by those other companies.

For instance, look at the nice selection of beers over at the Hanover Street Chop House. Who wouldn't like to enjoy a 'Dogfish 90 minute IPA' or a 'Harpoon IPA' while talking to friends about the days events.  Of course those aren't the only fine brews available, but you would have to check out their very extensive wine and beer list online to see the full selection.

Now don't get me talking about the Marconi Olive Oil made by Catania-Spagna.  Perhaps my taste in olive oils is a bit more defined than others since my wife is from Italy and knows the best olive oils around.  Actually, my wife's father grew olives for oil and was a renowned wine makes in Italy many years ago, so she knows what she is talking about when she says the Marconi Olive Oil is among the best.

Well, now I have done it.  All this talk of food has made me very hungry.  So I have to stop what I am doing and head on over to Michael's Deli for one of his corned beef sandwiches.  256 Harvard street in Brookline isn't to far to travel for one of his many sandwiches such as: Corned Beef Reuben, Home Made Meatloaf or Honey Smoked Turkey Breast.  Well you have to check it out for yourself.  Just take a look at this menu.

Boston's afternoon Drive Time (0.00 / 0)
...is owned by the Howie Carr Show. That is why businesses advertise there - not because of Mr. Carr's political views.

This childish and ill conceived "boycott", were it to have any impact at all, would likely hurt at least as many hard working liberals as conservatives.

It is misguided, petulant, and impotent.

Speaking of drive time (5.00 / 1)
that is when most people suffer the awful inconvenience of a broken windshield.  Luckily, we have Giant Glass to call at 1-800-54-giant and they can give you fast efficient service.

;)
