Open Seat News: Sixth Essex

by: Mike "DD4RP" Rossettie

Thu Nov 12, 2009 at 08:07:57 AM EST

According to the The Salem News State Representative Mary Grant will not seek reelection in 2010.  The 6th Essex district is the entire town of Beverly and nothing else.  Luckily for us, the Republican Party already has a candidate in Brett Schetzsle who announced in September.  Brett has also issued a statement on Rep. Mary Grant's decision not to seek re-election in 2010.

Brett Schetzsle grew up as an Academic All-Star Quarterback at and has an MBA from Purdue University.  For more information on Brett visit VoteBrett2010.com

In 2008, Obama defeated McCain in the district by a 60% to 38% margin with other candidates receiving around 2%.  This +22% margin was 4% better than the Massachusetts average of +26%.  In 2006, Deval Patrick defeated Kerry Healey by a 51% to 41% margin.  Christy Mihos received 6% and Grace Ross received 2%.  It should be noted that Beverly is Kerry Healey's home town.

In 2002, Mary Grant was first elected.  She defeated Republican John Murray by a 62% to 33% margin with an unenrolled receiving 5%.  In 2004, she defeated John Murray again by a 67% to 27% margin with an unenrolled receiving 6%.  In 2006, she won by an 81% to 19% margin versus an unenrolled challenger.  In 2008, she was unopposed.

I have included Brett's Online video Below The Fold....

Should Make this a Lot More Interesting. (0.00 / 0)
Guess amongst the Dems, City Councilor John Burke (D) is likely to run

(R)- Outside 495

Krannert represent! (0.00 / 0)
It is excellent that we have a solid candidate with an MBA from one of the best programs out there, the one at Krannert School of Management. When I first heard the name, I thought, "It can't be the guy who did sideline reporting for the Boiler football radio network while I was an undergrad, can it?" Sure enough, I am pleasantly surprised that it is indeed that guy.

Brett is dedicated, passionate, intelligent.  He will be an outstanding state rep.

Boiler Up!

My views do not necessarily reflect those of the Ward 21 Republican Committee, the Boston Republican City Committee, or any officers or members thereof.

Donate today (0.00 / 0)
Brett's campaign was one of the first that I donated to in this cycle, because I knew Brett would be working hard on his campaign and would be a terrific voice for Republicans.

My small donation, and that of many others, made a difference and should show us all that our support for candidates counts. Grant had to have seen the kind of excitement Brett's campaign has been building and saw the writing on the wall. Its not even 2010 and Brett's already chased his opponent out of the race! With an open seat, a strong Republican year, and a candidate for Governor potentially also from the North Shore topping the ticket, this is going to be a very close race. Brett's going to work hard to win it, he's already getting results

Looks like a great candidate! (0.00 / 0)
Get out and knock on doors!  Now!
