Did Jack E. Robinson pay for negative mail against himself?

by: Rob "EaBo Clipper" Eno

Sun Nov 29, 2009 at 10:21:11 AM EST

Over the weekend I've received some phone calls from confused social conservatives.  They have been getting a series of "pro-equality" mailings from Jack E. Robinson touting his progressive values.  At the forefront is his support for Gay Marriage.  What is odd is that the pieces have most definitely been sent to signers of the Vote On Marriage petition.  That data through Know Thy Neighbor is publicly available and is in some databases.  Did Jack E.'s campaign staff mistake those that signed the "marriage petition" as pro-gay marriage? If so he just paid for a negative mailing campaign against himself.

Much more likely - was it a boost for Scott Brown? (0.00 / 0)

I hasten to add, I would expect it from somebody OUTSIDE the Brown campaign, but who wanted Brown to win.  Trying to HELP, and unable to restrain themselves from a dirty trick, no matter how unnecessary.

As one of the insufficiently pure, I did not receive the mailing.  What's the legal information?  Paid for by who, mailed from where?

Also, not to be blunt, but Jack E. isn't worth an Independent Expenditure to try to beat.

This is his own mail piece.

You're not giving Robinson enough credit for being even stupider than that. (0.00 / 0)
What would be dumber than sending a pro-gay marriage mailer to signers of the "Vote on Marriage" petition?  How about sending pro-gay marriage to  Republican primary voters in general.  I think Robinson is stupid enough to do just that (hey--Charlie and Christy are in favor of it, then all Republicans must be).  Your theory--that they didn't know what the petition was for--gives them way to much credit.

Beats me. (0.00 / 0)
I know one person who signed the petition who did not get Jack's mailing.  I know one person who did sign the petition who did get Jack's mailing.  Then myself, a Republican primary voter who did not sign the petition, did not get the mailing.  I don't know what criteria he used to send out that mailing.  Short of an official response from the campaign, I don't think we will ever know.

I don't buy the 'didn't know' thing either. (0.00 / 0)

Spencer Kimball is running the camapign, and he CERTAINLY knows what it's for.

I think EaBo may have jumped the gun on assuming criteria was based on KTN, from the comments.

The substance of the mailing, (0.00 / 0)
Unfortunately it looks like we will never see Brown and Robinson debate the issues raised in this mailer.  It is my understanding from Brown's website that he is against gay marriage and also against any repeal of DOMA.  Does anyone know where Brown stands on Don't Ask Don't Tell?  It is not mentioned on his website.

I was surprised that Robinson is advertising that he supports homosexualizing the military.  Does the "Commodore in the Navy League" think that this will entice primary voters to support him?

Jack "Equality" Robinson (0.00 / 0)
He just thinks that somehow this is going to help him.  I think he's trying to destroy the Republican Party and somehow this fits into some kind of deranged master plan.

What he should really do is everything he can to get Richard Tisei elected and the other RINOs into prominent positions of power.

Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it.

Is he marred ? Is he Gay ? I really don;t know these answers. Why is it negative ? Does it contradict his website ? (0.00 / 0)
I signed and collected signatures. I got three mailings in two days but not this one. Interesting-great dirty trick if it is one. Maybe the Dems did it ? Maybe he is
"Tisei -ing "  the crowd, using the moment to gain favor with that demo group.
If you trash him then you ahve to trash Tisei and Baker -no ??

It is negative (0.00 / 0)
because of the people that received it. Had he targeted rockefeller republicans with the mailing then it would be a good mailing.  He targeted social conservatives with this mailing.  That is not a good strategy.

Say what? (0.00 / 0)
Ok, he is for rights equal "All citizens shall have equal rights" the same as the Programme of the NSDAP, as a conservative I do not think that is good.  We the people have inalienable individual liberties and not rights given out as a socialist allotment. More confusing is saying he is for two legislative opposites, liberty and equality. So then, is he saying all us straight folk are in for some ethnic cleansing?

And this is part of the Republican Party, the party of conservative values. I think the Republican Party here should do some cleansing and boot this one to the left.
