Worcester county is one of the most Republican areas in the state.
In 2010 Scott Brown defeated Martha Coakley by a 60.9% to 37.9% margin. He carried every city and town in the county except the city of Worcester (47%) and the town of Harvard (45%). Scott Brown defeated Martha Coakley by a 52% to 47% margin statewide.
In 2008, Barack Obama defeated John McCain by a 55.6% to 41.6% margin. This was McCain's 3rd best county in Massachusetts behind Plymouth and Barnstable. John McCain was defeated by a 61.8% to 36.0% margin statewide.
