Brian Herr for Congress

by: Mike "DD4RP" Rossettie

Tue Feb 16, 2010 at 19:55:37 PM EST

BREAKING NEWS....

Brian Herr is running for Congress in the 3rd congressional district.  Current congressman Jim McGovern currently has $606,359 cash on hand according to his latest FEC filing.  Herr is now the 6th candidate to announce for this already crowded primary field.

Brian Herr is currently the chairman of the Hopkinton board of Selectmen and also serves on the board of the Metro West Regional Transit Authority.  He has his MA in Government from Harvard University and currently works as the New England District Manager for large electrical wholesaler.  Brian Herr is also a founding member of the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge that has raised over $45 million dollars to fight cancer.

Brian Herr was previously considering a run for Massachusetts State Treasurer, but only had $121.78 cash on hand.

MORE BELOW THE FOLD....

Bailing from the Treasurer's Race eh? (0.00 / 0)
Could that mean someone will be getting in soon?

(R)- Outside 495

Yes, (0.00 / 0)
Wait for it... Wait for it...

Bob Hedlund for Minority Leader.

We need more people to run for the legislature, (0.00 / 0)
not six people to run for Congress in one district.

I don't get the reasoning here.

I dont understand (5.00 / 1)
Why this guy didn't take on Vulnerable Freshman State Rep Caroyln Dykema, someone I believe we still don't have a candidate to face off with. This was Paul Loscocco's own freaking district for crying out loud, the guy all the Cahill-ites are wooing over.

It's worse than that.... (0.00 / 0)
...three of the six gentlemen running vs. McGovern come from that same State Rep. District.

Lamb and Stopa are both from Holliston, and Herr is from Hopkinton!

Follow me on Twitter?  Sure, why not.  www.twitter.com/paulferro

Is anybody running against Jamie Eldridge yet? (0.00 / 0)

This is where (0.00 / 0)
a person chosen by the State Committee should call up these guys to convince them to run for more locally oriented positions first
Delle (R-Westborough) could run against Eldridge, or run to replace Polito when she runs for Treasurer.
Herr (R-Hopkinton) could easily run against Dykema, and as a Selectman from Hopkinton he would probably win EASY
Stoppa (R-Holliston) and Lamb (R-Holliston) could both too run against Dykema, or they could run against Spilka along with Ed McGrath (R-Framingham) if they so choosed

At least if you called all these guys up, you would probably be able to convince one or two to switch up, leaving a primary in the 3rd, and candidates for the other races!

Some of these candidates for Congress don't get it. (0.00 / 0)
A rep seat is winnable on little money (though it obviously helps to have a decent amount). Just go out and knock on thousands of doors. If you started now you could do it on weekends.

To challenge a sitting Congressman you need probably minimum $300K.

The state party should insist that anyone running under the GOP banner needs to first stop at their office to have things explained to them.

Saw Brian last night in Worcester (0.00 / 0)
He's a bright, impressive guy..
