2010 Election- Massachusetts Candidates- April Edition

by: MerrimackMan

Sun Apr 04, 2010 at 15:40:57 PM EDT

( - promoted by Rob "EaBo Clipper" Eno)

Updated With Comments 4/5/10

With the filing deadline for this November's candidates fast approaching on April 27 and May 4th, I thought I'd go ahead and update my previous post listing the candidates that are currently seeking office.

As with last time, I have underlined races where to my knowledge there is no Republican running, but only when I felt like the race certainly deserves our attention.

I have bold-faced the Republican candidates for viewing ease, and I have added candidates for the US House of Representatives.(Previously just listed Statewide and Legislative Candidates)

Currently the GOP is Challenging
All Statewide Offices
9 of 10 Congressional Districts
22 of 40 State Senate Districts
74 of 160 State Representative Districts

If you know about a candidate that is running, but I did not list him/her here, let me know!!!!

So, without further ado, here's what I got so far.

is a Republican 9and I'm trying to convince him to help me organize ward 1 Springfield). Also I believe James Welch has pulled papers for state senate (buoniconti's (sp?) seat. Meanwhile WWelch's seat has a Dem  who pulled but I can't remember the name and never heard of the guy before.

Gosh (0.00 / 0)
These Dems make things so predictable. Bouniconti jumps the ladder to DA. So naturally Welch is going to jump the ladder to State Senate.

Kinda surprised no one is running against Berry.  Figured someone would go for that state senate seat from the Republican side.

That is true, just a bit late to the party maybe.  If I had the support structure behind me in any form I'd consider. Although one man fight against a 27 year incumbent might be novel.

Last I heard from him (last week) Dave Sukoff wasn't running in the 6th Congressional. Not sure if Rick Baker is still in an R primary.
I'm still looking for someone to run against Erlich in the 8th House district. Almost had a good one.
Thanks for your list. CLT will soon be posting the candidates its PAC has endorsed so far on the CLT website.

Great to see a list of all the races. A very, very minor change for the 10th Congressional list. Maryanne Lewis lives in Scituate, not Mashpee. Ironically I believe she and Joe Malone live about ten houses apart!

Peter White was from Mashpee, she's from Scituate

According to the Politics1 Massachusetts page, George Burton is running... (0.00 / 0)
According to the Politics1 Massachusetts page, someone named George Burton from the Massachusetts Constitution Party is running in the Eighth Congressional District, but that's all the info that I have. If George is, either, running at all, still running, or not running, I don't know the answer for sure. Is anybody out there from the Massachusetts Constitution Party who can supply all of the definitive answers to this?

New Candidate (0.00 / 0)
Marc A. Kurzberg is running for the 5th Norfolk seat vacated by Joseph Driscoll(D).  He's a young guy, about 21 years old.  Helped on the Brown and now helping on the Baker campaign.

Im surprised Libby Firenze decided not to take on Brownsberger again. While she did lose by 20 points she ran a good campaign, was a good fit for the district, and could be running on an anti-Patrick wave this year. I do hope someone challenges my rep.

My original Democratic opponent, Plainville Selectman Robert Fennessy, withdrew from the race two weeks ago.  Another Plainville Democrat, Attleboro City Assessor Stanley Nacewicz, is now circulating nomination petitions and will announce soon.  It'll be good to have some competition across the aisle.  For campaign updates, please sign up at www.danwinslow.com.
