Elizabeth Warren to chat live on Boston.com on June 22nd

by: Vote3rdpartynow

Wed Jun 20, 2012 at 09:13:41 AM EDT

See the details at this link:

US Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren will answer readers' questions in a live Boston.com chat room on Friday, June 22, from 1:45-2:30 pm. Our producers will moderate the chat, making sure Warren receives a balanced mix of questions. We will open the chat room early so readers can submit questions in advance. (The room is not yet built, so stay tuned.)

The Producers at Boston.com will moderate - so we are assured of having her answer balanced questions....Yeah right!

Let's start laying down the odds as to whether there will be a single question about her phony Cherokee heritage.

What would you like to ask her?

I recommend that we do this.... (0.00 / 0)
we all register at Boston.com, if not already, and ask the question about her heritage, and prove to Deval Patrick that he was wrong and he does not speak for the commonwealth, and we DO care about this issue!

Ed Markey is now the official 'cheapest' man on earth.  1.5 percent to charity while the average American gave 3 times as much...

She's sooooo..... (3.33 / 3)
dare I say it......BRAVE!!

Libs will heapum big tough hammer questions.

I would give you two 5's if I could ElectricStrawberry.... (0.00 / 0)
Excellent point!  She is afraid to appear in an 'open' public venue for fear of having Twila Barnes or another person with genuine 'Cherokee' heritage show up and start asking questions.

Elizabeth Warren is a coward and is hiding from real questions and real people.  She hid behind Deval Patrick at one press conference, and ran up a set of stairs screaming when questioned at another.  She is probably afraid to answer the phone at her house....So much for an open election....

Ed Markey is now the official 'cheapest' man on earth.  1.5 percent to charity while the average American gave 3 times as much...

When one has (0.00 / 0)
to hide behind someone else, or hide behind a moderator, or hide behind a lefty shill, or hide behind lies, or hide at all.....one has no character to stand on.

There will NEVER be a debate in which she does not know the questions beforehand or a so-called "open" forum without someone filtering out unfavorable questions.

In all fairness... (0.00 / 0)
Scott Brown has yet to do a town hall.  Just saying.

AND? (0.00 / 0)
Since when does one have to do a "town hall"?  Where did this notion come from?

I couldn't care less if ANY candidate did a town hall.
They're a method for the opposition to cram unfriendly people in to ask stupid sniping questions.

I've met Mr Brown a half-dozen times in my town.....asked him what I needed to to his face.

It isn't just an opportunity to ask a public figure questions. (0.00 / 0)
But also for everyone to hear the answers.  That is what is missing in your face-to-face example.

[ Parent ]
So everyone (0.00 / 0)
must hear all answers to all questions....or what?

Open town halls are little more than political boobytraps.....unless you control who gets in.

Makes for great soundbites for the jawhorenalists, but I'll get my answers in person.

Or it isn't transparent. (0.00 / 0)

What's more (0.00 / 0)
transparent than standing one foot away from someone and asking them directly...face-to-face....man-to-man/woman?  I'd say debates are equally transparent as town halls.

Barney Frank held town halls.....they were circuses.

transparent means on the record and available to the public (5.00 / 1)
The private secret meetings you got are the opposite of transparent! An unscrupulous politician could tell one guy one thing and tell the next guy something completely different, and get away with it if it's off the record and not available to the public.

What did you ask him, and what did he say? Did you ask him if he supports genetic engineering of designer babies and enabling same-sex procreation and licensing procreation separately from marriage? I suspect that David Koch and Mitt Romney and other libertarian transhumanists have brought up that kind of stuff with Brown, off the record, and given him their support in exchange for his support or at least non-opposition of their goals. But de to lack of transparency, I'll never know.

And if I were to meet him face to face and ask him and he reassured me that, just between him and me, he believes in preserving equal conception rights for all and opposes genetic engineering of children and same-sex procreation, that wouldn't be enough to convince me that he really felt that way, it would seem like a way to keep me quiet. I'd need to see his answer on the record and public so I could hold him accountable to it and really believe him.

And by the way, did you see my diary on those clowns seriously proposing to strip conception rights from marriage? Yes, they're just clowns, but that meme is gaining traction nevertheless. I would appreciate you acknowledging that preserving marriage's right to attempt to conceive offspring is not loony, and is in fact needed, and you are wrong to insist that marriage should not protect conception rights.

Didja (0.00 / 0)
hear about the bacon sundae at Burger King?

Mmmmmmmm......

Loon...

"I acknowledge having racist and classist and sexist feelings of white male superiority." -John Howard

[ Parent ]
Is that what you asked him? (0.00 / 0)
Seems like a pretty stupid thing to ask him about. Did you ask him anything else?

And did you see my diary about the loons who want to separate the right to procreate from marriage and issue separate parenting licenses? Remember, you were saying that I was a loon for wanting to preserve marriage as approving and allowing the couple to have sex and produce offspring with their own gametes. You have consistently said that was a bad idea, is that because you agree with those loons?

[ Parent ]
Is (0.00 / 0)
your mission in life to hijack every thread with your insanity?

Did you get the answers you wanted from Lizzy?  Or did the filter say "Look at THIS lunatic!!" and boot you like the filter should?
Or did you pussy out and not ask any questions?

"I acknowledge having racist and classist and sexist feelings of white male superiority." -John Howard

[ Parent ]
I did ask a question about what you asked him (0.00 / 0)
actually if you look back, you'll see I was continuing patrick's point about transparency. I asked you to tell us what you asked him and what he said, to demonstrate the meaning of transparency to you.

As to what I asked Elizabeth Warren, I posted my questions below, I sent them all at once hoping he'd choose one, but he probably just filtered them all once he saw they were from me. But hopefully he's smart enough to realize their serious questions, and he's doing some thing between journalistic malpractice and a crime against humanity if he thinks he's supposed to filter those questions out.

I'm going to put the questions in a new post, because it's not to late to her to answer them.

[ Parent ]
Difference being, (0.00 / 0)
I do not have to be transparent with YOU.  Doing that only invites hundreds of lie-filled posts from you.  I'll take one on one transparency any day.
So you asked her what she thought of the great flying spaghetti monster??!!

Great...I've been wondering about that one.

Oopsie....time to hijack another thread with your lunacy.

"I acknowledge having racist and classist and sexist feelings of white male superiority." -John Howard

[ Parent ]
Just use the word right (5.00 / 1)
You just can never admit you're wrong, can you? A secret off-the-record undocumented meeting with someone is not transparent, it is the opposite of transparent, as the word is used by everyone. It is also not transparent to the people talking, because there is no record. It's how fools and rubes talk to politicians: "ooh, his handshake was so firm and he looked me in the eye and listened to me! I'm going to vote for him for the rest of my life!" Doofus.

If you didn't try to keep your views secret then I wouldn't have to guess or ask you over and over. Nice to know though that you feel you don't have to be transparent with me though, that's pretty stunning admission. What have you got to hide? Do you think the public would side with you or me, if they knew your views?

[ Parent ]
I'll ask her about same-sex procreation (0.00 / 0)
How should I frame the question?

LOL John! Dude save it for a call in format! (0.00 / 0)
I'd love to watch a debate on TV next fall and see the moderator go 'OK let's go to the phones! We got John on Line 1'

THEN - You lead in with something like "well I'm sure we've all heard about the egg and sperm compromise ..."

Molon Labe

[ Parent ]
In case they haven't heard of it (0.00 / 0)
The compromise would be settling on specially defined Civil Unions that don't protect procreation rights but would give all the other rights and benefits of marriage except the right to procreate offspring together, in exchange for preserving the right of marriage to procreate offspring using the couple's own genes, and prohibiting creating people by any means other than joining a man and a woman's unmodified genes. All three of those things should be done, it is bad that none of them are laws yet.

It's Elizabeth Warren's birthday.... (0.00 / 0)
Do you think it is a coincidence that Granny planned a Boston.com webchat on her birthday?

She is such a loser!

Ed Markey is now the official 'cheapest' man on earth.  1.5 percent to charity while the average American gave 3 times as much...

The link is up for chat with Warren (0.00 / 0)
but it's still an Upcoming event" and not taking questions.

I know I can't just lob the question in there about same-sex procreation, I need to figure out some way to frame the question so that she (and Brown) want to say something, and the Globe doesn't just filter it out too...

I need a tantalizing angle...something general that leads to the specific...

maybe "Do you see any limits to reproductive freedom, such as banning cloning people, or genetically engineered designer babies, or same-sex procreation/transgender reproduction?"

What do you suggest RRRR?

John, frame the question this way..... (0.00 / 0)
This should trip her up...

John: "Professor Warren, can you tell us what the Cherokee position is on same-sex marriage and will it influence your legislative efforts if you go to Washington?"

There is no way she can answer that question....

Of course, this is why there is a moderator filtering out any questions that this amateurish Harvard Prof would struggle with.

Ed Markey is now the official 'cheapest' man on earth.  1.5 percent to charity while the average American gave 3 times as much...

[ Parent ]
There's moderating and there's manipulation (0.00 / 0)
I can understand there being moderators for smart-aleck questions, of course they have to keep it from being over-run by people mocking her about claiming to be Native American.

But the media is conspiring with government and lawyers to keep reproductive rights and specifically same-sex reproduction and transgender reproduction out of the realm of discussion. They want it to be left alone and for the pubic to consider it out of our control whether we preserve natural sexual reproduction or not. They all think it'll be great, it'll make money, it'll be interesting to endlessly legislate and litigate and negotiate and pontificate, but they have to make sure it stays under their control, which means it has to stay legal. We could prohibit it easily and be done with it, but they don't want that.

[ Parent ]
These would be my questions to Senator Brown too (0.00 / 0)
Dear Professor Warren, here are some questions about the long term future of humanity:

Do you think a man's sperm should be necessary to make a baby, or should we allow two women to combine eggs or make sperm from stem cells?

Should transgendered people be allowed to try to reproduce as their new sex, if a lab figures out how to make them sperm or eggs from stem cells?

Do you think we have a moral imperative to explore the galaxy and spread human life to other planets?

Do you think there is a moral imperative to screen out genetic defects when having children?

Do you see any limits to reproductive freedom, such as banning cloning people, or genetically engineered designer babies, or same-sex procreation/transgender reproduction?

Should marriage protect the couple's right to procreate offspring, or should that be licensed independently of marriage?

The Salutation (5.00 / 1)
I forget, is "How" still the correct salutation? How about "How's it going?"

She's a slow typist (0.00 / 0)
The wait is hilarious..."What are your top three or five issues we need to concentrate on for a better America? "

The suspense is killing me...I might laugh myself to death. Nice job Glen Johnson giving her a multi-part question.

What did she go get a beer? Is she taking a leak? (Do women "take leaks?" I guess not.)

15 minutes gone, two questions asked (0.00 / 0)
Answer to the second question "top three or five issues" came in at 2:00 PM, fifteen minutes:

1:51 Comment From tom ostrowski
What are your top three or five issues we need to concentrate on for a better America?

1:59 Elizabeth Warren:
1. Jobs. Short-term, we need to put people to work to fix things that are broken. Long-term, we need to make the investments that create opportunities--education, infrastructure and research.

2. Real accountability. No one should be able to steal your purse on Main Street or your pension on Wall Street. The people who broke our economy should be held accountable.

3. Level playing field. Washington works for those with armies of lobbyists, not for families and for small businesses. Complex regulations, loaded with loopholes, work against small business. We need simpler, smarter regulations.

4. Move to clean energy. Stop giving billions in tax breaks for big oil companies. We need to make investments in clean energy and energy efficiency.

5. Invest in education. Don't let the interest rates on student loans double. Invest more in STEM--science, technology, engineering and math--so that we're ready to compete in the 21st century.

[ Parent ]
third question was shockingly obvious (0.00 / 0)
2:00 Comment From David Morin
In your opinion, is the individual mandate in the U.S. and Massachusetts health care laws constitutional? Why or why not?
2:02 Elizabeth Warren:
Yes. Under long-standing interpretations of the Commerce Clause, Congress clearly has this power.

At least it only took two minutes to answer that one.

[ Parent ]
fourth question also repeats old news (0.00 / 0)
2:03 Comment From Tom B
Whats the real story behind your Indian Heritage?? And did you knowingly use it to your advantage while you were a professor?
2:07 Elizabeth Warren:
Growing up, my family talked a lot about our Native American heritage. In fact, my mother and father had to elope because my father's family didn't approve of his marrying someone who was part Cherokee and part Delaware.

The people who hired me, including Charles Fried, who was Solicitor General for Reagan and has said in print that he supported Scott Brown, have all said they were not even aware of my heritage when they hired me and that it played no role in my hiring.

Notice she still doesn't get that Fried only "brought her in" and is not the person to ask about whether her minority status gave her the added bump in the final decision to hire her, and is not even the point of the question: did she do it to advance her career, which of course the answer is yes, why else would anyone do it.

[ Parent ]
Heh (0.00 / 0)
2:07 Comment From Stephen Harrington
As a United States senator, will you condemn or support an Israeli raid on Iranian nuclear research sites, if one were to occur?
2:09 Elizabeth Warren:
I don't think it is responsible to speculate on hypotheticals. Every situation and context is different. Right now, I think the President is taking the right approach: strong sanctions and an international effort to put pressure on Iran.

The "hypothetical" is a hypothetical because she's not sure who will be the President that orders the raid, if it is Romney, then of course she'd condemn it, if it's Obama, then of course she'd do whatever Obama did. That's just politics, it's not a very useful question.

[ Parent ]
shoulda chewed this guy a new one (0.00 / 0)
2:09 Comment From Mark
I am 51 years old, raising my nephew, and taking care of my elderly father. I day-trade and make a relatively modest living at it. Hell, I drive a 13-year-old pickup truck. With all the talk about the financial transaction tax to get back at Wall Street, do you realize it would put me out of business overnight? What would I then do at my age?
2:15 Elizabeth Warren:
I believe there are versions of the transactions tax that are designed to protect individuals. More broadly, I'd like to see us invest more in jobs--both in the short term with a jobs bill and in the long-term with investments that will grow opportunities for everyone. I wish you success--I know you are working hard.

He's a freaking DAY TRADER, they add zero value to society, they're a scourge. Tell him to just quit that speculation and sign up for food stamps if he can't work a job, go out for walks with his nephew and father as much as he can, drive as little as possible, grow a garden...

[ Parent ]
Ah, it's an issue of choice (0.00 / 0)
2:15 Comment From Linda Griffiths-Kelly
I don't want women fighting in front line combat units. Do you agree or disagree that women should serve in front line combat units?
2:16 Elizabeth Warren:
I believe that women should be able to serve in combat.

I remember that from Platoon, when Charlie Sheen has that scene where he wrestles with his decision about serving in combat or not.

[ Parent ]
Answer to immegration question (0.00 / 0)
Elizabeth Warren:
I believe in the Dream Act. When Scott Brown voted against it, he denied the dreams of young people who did nothing wrong and who are trying to get an education or serve in the military. I thought that was wrong. I support the President's recent actions to help these kids.

Elizabeth Warren supports the illegal action by the president in bypassing Congress with his executive order, in violation of the Constitution. Shocker.

G.O.P. Growth. Opportunity. Prosperity. For all Americans.

Karl (TLC)Weld

Dr. K's take (0.00 / 0)
http://www.nationalreview.com/...

Obama had tried to change the law. In late 2010, he asked Congress to pass the DREAM Act, which offered a path to citizenship for hundreds of thousands of young illegal immigrants. Congress refused.

When subsequently pressed by Hispanic groups to simply implement the law by executive action, Obama explained that it would be illegal. "Now, I know some people want me to bypass Congress and change the laws on my own. . . . But that's not how our system works. That's not how our democracy functions. That's not how our Constitution is written."

That was then. Now he's gone and done it anyway. It's obvious why. The election approaches and his margin is slipping. He needs a big Hispanic vote and this is the perfect pander. After all, who will call him on it? A supine press? Congressional Democrats? Nothing like an upcoming election to temper their Bush 43-era zeal for defending Congress's exclusive Article I power to legislate.

With a single Homeland Security Department memo, the immigration laws no longer apply to 800,000 people. By what justification? Prosecutorial discretion, says Janet Napolitano.

G.O.P. Growth. Opportunity. Prosperity. For all Americans.

Karl (TLC)Weld

[ Parent ]
Wasn't Dr. K a fan of the "unitary executive theory" during Bush? (0.00 / 0)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U...
The unitary executive theory is a theory of American constitutional law holding that the President controls the entire executive branch. The doctrine is based upon Article Two of the United States Constitution, which vests "the executive power" of the United States in the President.
