Does Niki Tsongas support repeated bypassing of Congress by President Obama?

Does Niki Tsongas Support Repeated Bypassing of Congressional Branch?

Westford, MA—The President today asserted Executive Privilege over the Fast and Furious documents release that Congress has requested from US Attorney General Eric Holder. This is part of an ongoing battle between Holder and Congress which has repeatedly requested documents about the program. Congress is conducting hearings today on whether or not to hold Holder in contempt.

3rd District Congressional Candidate Jon Golnik released the following statement on the controversial issue: “The Fast and Furious program was a major debacle and one that AG Holder and anyone involved should be held accountable. The idea that this President would involve himself to hold documents under Executive Privilege so Congress cannot complete its investigation into the matter is an absolute outrage. The President is once again abusing his position and refusing to acknowledge that our Government is based on checks and balances and separation of powers among the branches. Investigating such a seriously flawed program is absolutely under the power of Congress. But as we saw last week with the declaration of a major change in immigration laws, President Obama ignores the Constitutional role of Congress. “I have to question where Niki Tsongas is on the President’s perpetual bypass of Congress. Congresswoman, do you support holding secret the documents in the Fast and Furious program or do you think Congress should be allowed to do its job and hold Holder accountable?

Regardless of political party, support for the process set in place by our forefathers is absolutely a vital part of the job. So, will Representative Tsongas put aside her political pandering and support for President Obama and say, ‘Let us do our job.’ Or will she sit idly by as this White House keeps invading the rights and roles of the Congressional branch?” --Jon Golnik, 3rd MA District Congressional Candidate.

Common Ground (0.00 / 1)
Virtually every Democrat whines about partisanship and gridlock in DC. However, whenever they have a chance to side with common sense, they circle the wagons for their corrupt colleagues and repeat the absurd (and false)talking points fed to them by the likes of Obama, Holder and the DNC.

Tsongas and the rest of the progressive MA delegation are missing a huge opportunity. They could, for once, prove that they are not simply OFA parrots. They could, for once, demonstrate that the Constitution is, to them, more than just "an inconvenient truth". They could, for once, give the "Blame Bush" nonsense a rest. They could, for once, break with their Party and join Republicans in condemning a flawed and deadly policy that was made even more heinous by a massive criminal cover up.

Of course, they won't seize the moment and do the right thing because they're "stuck on stupid" and they'll do whatever they're told to do by their progessive puppet masters. That's why they all need to be fired in November.

Stand for something, or fall for anything (0.00 / 0)
If Niki Tsongas doesn't support the process into which she seeks to be elected, then she isn't qualified to hold a congressional seat. As the Good Book says, choose you this day whom you will serve. Will it be the people or will it be the political elitists of your party, who have participated in utterly laying this country's future to waste? What say you, Ms. Tsongas?

"I have to question where Jon Golnik was on the President's perpetual bypass of Congress. (0.00 / 0)
The Fast & Furious scandal has been raging for years. It is not just President Obama and hs Attorney General that have been responsible for delaying Congressional action. The Republican Leader Speaker Boehner is responsible for much of the lack of progress. There have been many stories in the conservative media about the failure for progress on the part of Republican leadership. There were as we now know almost no stories at all about Fast and Furious in the main stream media. That in my view is as big a scandal as are the actions of Obama's Justice Department.

Like Speaker Boehner, where was Jon Golnik before this week in calling for the administration to produce the answers and the documents to Representative Issa's requests and subpoenas? Strangely silent, as I can find no articles, no posts, no tweets, nothing from Golnik showing he was at all concerned. Perhaps he was but said nothing. It seems that not until it is politically advantageous to speak out on an issue do we get to hear from a man who has been running for Congress during the entire life of the scandal. Certainly Jon Golnik is not the kind of Republican to ever challenge one of the party's leaders. He shows the keen instincts of a professional political animal. As an establishment Republican, now it is time for Jon to jump on board and challenge Representative Tsongas hoping to tar & feather  her for the same failure to comment that he himself is guilty of.

I agree with Jon Golnik that the President and his administration have brushed aside Constitutional limits in this scandal. I see nothing in what Jon Golnik writes that shows me he understands what in the Constitution has been ignored or in what way the President and his appointees have ignored their oaths to uphold the Constitution.

It is important that we send people to Congress who are not only willing to take the oath of office, but to understand it and be willing to obey it.

In the name of full disclosure I am a consultant to the campaign for Tom Weaver, also a candidate for Congress in Massachusetts 3rd Congressional District.

add the disclosure at the end...it was plainly evident that you were a Weaver attack dog.

Golnik is not the current Representative...he has no standing to demand anything of the President or the current Speaker. He DOES get to question the current Representative for HER actions.

If this is the manner in which Weaver will serve the People, I'd take a pass if I weren't written out of the District this time around.  To take a scandal that points at Democrats and make it shared scandal of ANY sort doesn't make Weaver look good.
To make a lame and ineffectual attack on some mythical lack of knowledge of the Constitution is equally ludicrous.  Lemme guess...because Weaver served in the Navy, he has some bettter understanding of the Constitution?????  I see nothing in Tom's education, military, or work experience that tells me HE has an understanding of ANYTHING about the Constitution.  I'll add that nothing in Jon's experience does either....but nothing Jon has said shows a LACK of understanding either.

Full disclosure...I have volunteered for the Golnik campaign exactly once, stuffing envelopes.  They asked, I answered.  If Weaver wants my help, he'd ask too.

Didn't need to now either. (5.00 / 1)
You are correct. Jon Golnik did not need to then and he did not need to now. His standing has not changed. It was always what he wanted to do. Further Tsongas did not need to either. As a Representative she must address her committee assignments and the concerns of her constituents. Based on those, Tsongas still does not need to do anything. I am willing to guess that she really has no problem with what the administration did. Like Jon Golnik, she would only speak up when it was in her own political interest. Again, if that is the kind of people you want in Congress, you really have little to worry about. You have plenty to like on both sides of the aisle.

As for Tom Weaver's credentials on the Constitution? He also has little to show that he is qualified to speak about the Constitution; except for the many seminars he has delivered as a Constitutional Teacher before college groups, Republican groups, Tea Party groups. And the hundreds of posts and dozens of position papers addressing Constitutional issues.

My comments are my own, not Tom Weaver's. I try and remain quiet in respect of the establishment Republicans of all stripes when they bash the Constitution in order to fool the people to further their own ambitions. There is a point where it crosses the line. Jon Golnik was called out by Progressive bloggers for trying to act like he was Tom Weaver. The lunatics on the left are not fooled by Jon Golnik. You should not be either.

Where (0.00 / 2)
in Tom's EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE did he garner his credentials to speak on the Constitution to....ANYONE?

That he speaks to groups doesn't mean he has some special understanding that I, anyone else on RMG, or Golnik does not have......yet you pimp him as having some one-up over his opponent?  For al I know, he's telling these groups incorrrect notions.

He's a Navy vet, mechanical engineer and water treatment specialist.  Wow....I'm a protein chemist and I carry my little pocket Constitution everywhere...made hundreds of posts too.  I should run for Congress.

Tom's not going to get voters with this tactic...doesn't serve him well.  Wouldn't get me even IF I was in the district.

Where you have not been looking... (0.00 / 0)
Tom, like most actual knowledgeable people today get their perspective on the Constitution from reading the actual documents. Tom has a passion that has had him read hundreds of books, spending years studying the history of this country.

Since most government High Schools and colleges are not teaching Constitutional principles, far too many citizens have no clue on the subject. Jon Golnik, for example made errors in his press release above, and most people can't catch those. The training of most "politicos" suffer even more as they move on to Law schools. It is a major reason why lawyers make such poor choices for legislators. There are exceptional institutions that actually do a decent job. Included would be The Naval Academy and Hillsdale College. It is probably more likely that a Naval Academy graduate would start out with a better comprehension of the Constitution than lawyers finish with.

Tom is invited to speak based upon his performance and knowledge that he displays. If you are so concerned about what Tom says, then learn more about him! Anyway, I guess you have not been to one of Tom's talks. Or watched the videos. It appears you are criticizing Tom's Constitutional knowledge based upon what little you know from his web site. I guess some people really do not need to know the facts before they post their opinion.

I have no way of knowing for sure if you are a chemist or really carry a pocket Constitution. But if that is true, then you probably should run for Congress. You may well be better qualified than  most of the politicos that are running. We need real citizen legislators. Congress requires people of good character, and you are probably of much better than Golnik in that area as well. Integrity matters.

I can't believe I am going to have a discussion on integrity with someone who goes by the name ElectricStrawberry. I don't know who you are, but people tell me you are something of a troll on this site. I don't know. I do know that this is about Jon Golnik. Not about Tom Weaver. You want to make this about Tom and deflect the legitimate criticism of Golnik. It was Jon Golnik who put out a press release got the attention of the left wingers. It was the left wing bloggers mocking Jon Golnik for trying to be like Tom Weaver that got my attention. Normally I do not focus on Golnik. I volunteered to work for Jon before I met Tom Weaver. I think Jon is a "nice" guy.

This is Ralph Zazula speaking. Tom Weaver expressed his opinion that I do not post these remarks. That is one reason I do not tell him about them before I make them. His campaign staff agrees with you that this will not look good.

I disagree. My challenges about Jon Golnik's character and Constitutional knowledge are actually pretty easy for someone to research and find out about. Google is not nice to Jon Golnik. If anyone is reading this thread and they do not find out who Jon Golnik is and then they vote for him, well I guess they deserve two more terms of Tsongas. I actually appreciate your bringing more attention to this race.

Here We Go, Politics Of Attacks (0.00 / 2)
It seriously tickles me when "Weaver supporters" become the moral police.. Attention Ralph Zazula are you not the one (knowing as much as you do about the constitution) going around creating a stink because the candidate you support is not getting RTC endorsements, while Golnik is...So your opinion of Freedom of Speech is it's O.K. as long as the speech agrees with me/my candidate!
Is your candidate not the man, who pulled a mutiny within the M-RA, firing people within the 5th Congressional  M-RA, not allowing a vote to bring these people back...Was your candidate NOT the one who left a voice mail indicating he absolutely intended to prevent people from voting their choice for officers within the M-RA, 5th Congressional District and in the M-Ra election of their constitutional officers and thusly had people whose opinions he did not like expelled from this group?  Maybe RMG should contact some of these Ex M-RA members and get their take on how well Weaver upholds individual rights, apparently only when they agree with his version of "rights"!
Your veiled insults at the author of the other post..and your veiled reference of character of another candidate  are typical of this type of campaign, with a staff consisting of hit men/women...Be extremely careful telling people to "Google Golnik"  they may then "Google Weaver" and see his stand on women!!!  Or maybe his past finances.  You and your folks who attack other candidates should be ashamed; the sad part is you're not. When a candidates stands for nothing other than the extreme, the only option is to dig up stuff,  a bad road for you/your guy to go down considering his past "domestic accomplishments"  and his dictatorship while reducing the M-RA to a mere shadow of itself  ..There is a news story in his assault on M-RA people he did not agree with, will shed light on how he will be a congressperson..."my way..." or as stated by Donald Trump Weaver...  "You're Fired"

OMG!! (1.00 / 1)
Tom actually "read the documents"!!!!  So have I, ever since I took the oath and served with the Wolfhound regiment in the Electric Strawberry division.  Made it a point to study it for the 23.5 years from that day to this.
Yes, the People are ignorant as a whole....that's got nothing to do with Tom and Jon.
Yes, lawyers are taught bad modern-day Constitutional law....that's got nothing to do with Tom and Jon.

I don't care to learn about Tom.  I was written OUT of that district in the re-districting and care to learn about my new district's candidates.  I see nothing that says he has some uber-secret understanding of the Constitution that cannot be garnered with a free pocket Constitution and an understanding of simple English.

Go ahead...take your pathetic swipes at me.  I'm used to it from supporters of losing candidates.  I say I'm a chemist...I'm a chemist.  Actually educated as a biologist, then an immunologist, but have been doing protein chemistry for the past 12 years.  That makes me a chemist.
Go ahead and question my integrity.  Call me a troll.  Attack my character. Just more lame and ineffectual attacks by a supporter of a losing candidate.
The last thrashings before the demise.

Carry on...I haven't had someone question my integrity today.  You're certainly not the first and most certainly won't be the last.  I thrive on this lame tactic.

BTW, I do not post under my name because pathetic political attack dogs have sent packages of dog shit to my address.....have posted pictures of my front door on-line in not-so-veiled threats.  I have since moved out of Boston, have a young family and don't feel like resorting to any self-help on my property. This day and age of the internet.....it takes 15 saeconds to find someone's address, Mr. Zazula, and those with bad intent will use it for nefarious purposes.

It's also not good for those with their own business.

I choose to not have my family needlessly endangered....but DO go on...question my integrity.  Hell, go straight for my honor.

Tom's right.....you should not post without him making sure you're not getting rid of his precious few votes.  You're bad for his candidacy.  You make me want to actively seek more volunteer work for Golnik.

"I acknowledge having racist and classist and sexist feelings of white male superiority." -John Howard

Well I guess you made your point... (0.00 / 0)
Thank you for your service.

I thank Tom for his often.

You have me convinced that you are definitively more qualified to run for Congress than Jon Golnik is. And based upon what you say about yourself you would not be a good choice either, just better than Golnik.
