Three non-partisan groups have demanded a House ethics investigagtion of John Tierney (D- Off Shore) and his connection to illegal gambling, the Globe reports.

Common Cause, the Sunlight Foundation, and the Center for Responsive Politics have urged the inquiry, based on Tierney's failure to disclose over $200,000 his wife received at the same time she managed her brother's illegal gambling accounts. Tierney claims the money was a family gift, not subject to disclosure. He also claims he sought guidance from the House ethics committee after his wife's guilty plea, but refuses to disclose the details of his request. Tierney also voted against the law used to prosecute his brother-in-law.
Tierney will have a tough time dismissing this latest development as a partisan attack. Common Cause isn't exactly a right wing organization. |
