Five Things you should know today, August 10, 2012

by: Rob "EaBo Clipper" Eno

1. Brad Jones staffer crosses aisle to work for Democratic Chairman of Ways and Means

A staffer, formerly in Republican Minority Leader Brad Jones office, has crossed the aisle to work for the Democratic Chairman of Ways and Means Brian Dempsey.  State House News Service reported:

KATIE HOLAHAN, deputy legislative director to House Minority Leader Brad Jones, is crossing the aisle to become House Ways and Means Chairman Brian Dempsey's legislative director. Holahan will replace MICHAELA LINCOLN, who left Dempsey's office on Monday, Aug. 6 to move to Washington D.C.

2. NECN Segment on Elizabeth Warren's Daughter and GOTV push by Mass Government

3. From the living room HQ of RMG to Fox News in about 36 hours

On Wednesday morning, from the living room, Red Mass Group made the connection between a State funded GOTV effort and Elizabeth Warren's daughter.  For the next 36 hours the story dominated the race. Ending up on Fox News.

4. Aly Raisman stands up for principles in floor routine

I'm so proud that Ally Raisman is from Massachusetts.  Raisman, who won a gold medal in the gymnastics floor competition explained to the New York Post why she chose her floor routine music.

"I can only imagine how painful it must be for the families and close personal friends of the victims."

But by refusing to hit the pause button for a measly 60 seconds, Rogge and other organizers have committed a sin nearly as grave as denying there was ever a Holocaust.

Were it not for young Aly and her wedding dance/bat mitzvah accompaniment, the Munich dead may have never gotten their due.

"I am Jewish, that's why I wanted that floor music,'' Raisman said

.

You go girl!

5. Gail Huff is everywhere

The only person driving to more parts of the Commonwealth over the past week than Scott Brown is his wife, Gail Huff Brown.  She's seemingly everywhere.  Including the Commonwealth's greatest city, Lowell.  For as you know Boston may be the "Hub of the Universe", but Lowell is its center (ask any Lowellian they'll tell you).

Brown is locked in a tight race with consumer advocate and Harvard Law professor Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat. The Senate campaign is already the most expensive in Massachusetts history.

After Huff left Lowell, she was scheduled to meet with former state Rep. Geoff Hall, a Westford Democrat, at Kimball Farm in Westford. Hall, who served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1991 to 2009, endorsed Brown in May.

While in Lowell, Huff was accompanied by state Rep. David Nangle, also a Democrat. Nangle has not endorsed a candidate in the Senate race, but said he agreed to show Huff around the city as a personal favor to Brown, who he served with in the House during the late 1990s.

Good Job Rob (0.00 / 0)
Mermel's talking points were so hilariously rehearsed and parroted, that she was desperately afraid to be interrupted, lest she lose her place.

Her "hands off Pinochiohontus' daughter" meme was a real knee slapper.
