| 3. Lowell Sun: Ryan pick reshapes race around issues
The Lowell Sun has a great editorial regarding the Presidential race and Paul Ryan's entry.
Two weeks ago, the U.S. presidential election was shaping up as a replica of the old Seinfeld television series: It's all about nothing.
Things have changed dramatically, however, with Republican Mitt Romney's selection of Congressman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin as his running mate.
Now the race is about something.
No longer can Team Obama hide its failing track record from voters while demonizing Romney's wealth and keeping the GOP candidate on the defensive about rebuilding America's entrepreneurial spirit.
4. PPP Poll shows why Warren is attacking constantly on "women's issues"
The new Public Policy Poll highlights why Elizabeth Warren is constantly attacking on so-called "women's issues". Scott brown has a 21 point lead among men according to the poll while warren has a nine point lead amongst women. Warren needs to lie about Brown's record on Women in order to widen her gap.
The problem for Warren is the real Women's issues this year revolve around the economy, and her party has done a woeful job with it. With 33% of women thinking she's too liberal there is not a lot of room for her to grow with the 41% of women who are not voting for her. Contrast that with the 50% of men that think she's too liberal, and you won't see many men's votes go her way.
She's in trouble.
5. Brown's in lead because of focus on conservative values
Scott Brown won the 2010 election because of his staunch opposition to a government takeover of health care. Over the past month the campaign in Massachusetts has primarily been about the role of government in our lives. With Scott Brown countering Warren's notion that government is the be-all and end-all of our existence. Brown has done so in a forceful way. He has been an unapologetic defender of the free market and free enterprise.
That is why you see him with a five point lead today. It is because he is acting like the fiscal conservative he is, and that the voters of Massachusetts are. When we act conservative in Massachusetts we win. |
