Will the Democrats 'War on Women' include a cease fire on Sarah Palin?

( - promoted by Rob "EaBo Clipper" Eno)

Sarah Palin is a woman, right?

I know that one of the few options Barack Obama and Elizabeth Warren have of staying/getting into office this year will be to convince voters that there is somehow a 'war on women' being waged.  There is clearly a war on women, but it is not being waged from the right, but rather from the left.

Let me give you an example - How about Sarah Palin?  Sarah Palin is an intelligent, articulate, high-achieving woman.  This is a fact as evidenced in part by her election to Mayor of Wasilla and Governor of Alaska.  She beat Democrats for both of those seats, so she must have something going for her.  She was also the Republican Party choice for Vice President just a few years ago.  I don't need to tell you that...Aside from that she has/had her own reality show featuring her life in Alaska and she is a FoxNews Contributor.  She has also authored at least two books...

Yet, she is a target of the Democrats.  Worse yet, her children are the targets of members of Hollywood's elite few and liberal activists.  Every word from her mouth is mocked, yet we hardly hear a peep from the mainstream media when Barack Obama misspells Ohio, as he did recently.  The 'H' goes before the 'I' genius!

Vote3rdpartynow :: Will the Democrats 'War on Women' include a cease fire on Sarah Palin?
Recently, comedian Wayne Brady appeared on a Roseanne Barr roast and he made the following joke to another performer:

"Sarah Palin hates Jeff Ross because he reminds her of "what Trig is going to look like when he's 40."

Or how about Bill Maher, another well know liberal, making fun of Bristol Palin.

"And with all this going on, did you see what Sarah Palin said yesterday? She made a speech in Alaska and she said that the money the federal government is sending to states to help bail out, well that's not good, because that's the federal government getting in there and trying to 'control people.' Yes that's right, Sarah, it's all about the Federal Reserve making your daughter use a condom.

I guess it is okay to not only make jokes about a woman, if she is Republican, but also her children, including the one with Downe's Syndrome.  How disgustingly low will the political left in America go?

Of course, Sarah Palin is not the only woman to feel the sting of the left's ugly humor.  Rep Michelle Bachmann also gets hammered even though she is a woman.  In July of last year David Letterman made Michelle the topic of one of his top 10 lists.  Including one joke about her ass.

Isn't this a war on women?  Commenting on a Congresswoman's ass and poking fun of another woman's special child?  Isn't this worthy of being called a war on woman?  I guess THESE women don't mind being attacked and having their bodies talked about as though they were some kind of topless stripper, or having her child made the butt of some clown's crude and ignorant joke.  Where is the outrage from the left over these tasteless jokes?  (insert cricket noises here)  Where is the National Organization of Women to stop the attacks on television of these two women?

The way the Democrats see things - asking a woman to think twice before terminating the life of her unborn child is considered war.  Mocking the very existence of that poor child once it is born is not war, but rather comedy.

Democrats have things backwards folks.  They turn things upside down and all around and then try and tell us what is real and not real.

Even here in Massachusetts things are upside down and backwards.  Democrats want to take back the seat of Ted Kennedy, even though he was a noted womanizer and had countless stories of his attacks on woman from around the country.  Google Ted Kennedy Chris Dodd and the words "waitress sandwich' and see what comes up.  Or try 'Carrie Fisher, Chris Dodd and Ted Kennedy' to see what Google brings back.  Yet, Scott Brown, who has devoted his life to the 3 wonderful women in his life is somehow part of the problem.

Republicans should be able to make their argument about the war on women - it is being waged by liberals and progressives across America.  I see it as the Republican's job to defend them....

So Dems should treat Repub women differently? (2.00 / 1)
Dems mock Republican men who say stupid things (see: Todd Akin). Should women be off limits solely because they're women?

The crucial difference here is that Republicans are taking stances on policies that systemically affect all women - birth control access, reproductive health, equal pay.

To equate that to cherry-picked commentary from the left targeted at specific Republican women is an intentionally dishonest comparison.

That being said, the Wayne Brady "joke" is abhorrent and should be dismissed as such by people of all political stripes. I'm a little more lenient about comments regarding Bristol, seeing as Palin used her family (including her pregnant daughter) in highly political ways in 2008. If something is going to be held up as a political virtue (see: Romney's time at Bain), then you can't whine every time someone uses it to attack you. Nevermind that the entire Palin family has capitalized off their exposure by starring in multiple reality tv shows, thereby putting themselves up for plenty of public scrutiny well outside the political arena. (Don't think we should be talking about "Dancing with the Stars" celebs? I'll remember that next time Chaz Bono comes up...)

But I agree with you in one respect. No one needs to talk about Sarah Palin (or her family) any more. She has no political relevance and should be disregarded by Democrats and Republicans alike.

It's a different thing Eury... (0.00 / 0)
Have you ever seen a political comic/show host (the female equivalent of Bill Mahr) comment on a male candidate's ass?  I haven't, and I don't think I ever will.  Even when Scott Brown's in/famous nude pose was being talked about I never heard any derogatory or crude comments.

I think these women are being treated differently (from men), and I believe it is an actual war on woman.

We are headed for a 'Fiscal Cliff' and the country just elected a dope whose motto is 'Forward'.

But you think that only happens to Republicans? (0.00 / 0)
How many comments were made in 2008 about Hillary Clinton's clothes, looks, voice ("shrill") that are never made about men?

I absolutely agree that female politicians are treated differently than men, but I hardly think it only happens to Republicans.

That being said, latent pervasive sexism is very much different from a party platform that expresses a desire for a fetal personhood amendment and a wholesale abortion ban without exceptions for even the life of the mother, much less cases of rape and incest.

It's very different from a party that votes against fair pay for women.

It's very different from a push to cut of funding from organizations that provide critical health services to low-income women because 3% of that organization's business is providing legal abortions (which are already completely ineligible for federal funding).

It's very different from sitting members of congress trying to set policy based on a 17-century notion of how a woman's reproductive system works andpretending rape babies don't exist because they don't know any personally.

Societal sexism is bad, and I applaud any effort to stand up against it, no matter who the culprit is. But to equate it to active policy goals proudly lauded by Republican candidates, elected officials, and the party platform is simply ludicrous.

What would a woman be more offended by..... (0.00 / 0)
someone commenting on her ass or her dress?  Democrat women get their dress talked about.  Republican women get their asses talked about.

We are headed for a 'Fiscal Cliff' and the country just elected a dope whose motto is 'Forward'.

Once again... (0.00 / 0)
you're completely ignoring my point. Yes, people have said stupid, sexist things about Bachmann and Palin and other conservative women.

People have said stupid, sexist things about Democratic women as well. Rush Limbaugh called Sandra Fluke a slut and a prostitute. John McCain said in 1998 that Chelsea Clinton was ugly because "her father is Janet Reno." (2 for 1!) I'm sure if I spent some time on Google I could find someone saying something crude about Nancy Pelosi or Hillary Clinton's.

My point is that stupid sexist comments are a far cry from a legislative agenda specifically focused on reducing access to contraception, eliminating reproductive freedom, and ignoring wage disparities, among other issues.

All women (0.00 / 0)
have access to contraception. But making their employer/employer's insurance pay for it (even against their religious beliefs) for them is really the road you want to go down? Next you'll want my employer to pay for my lunch, just to make sure I'm eating healthy foods. While we're t it, why don't we make them pay for my kids' college education, so they aren't hurt by the wage gap from not getting a college degree.

Sooner or later you collectivists on the Left are going to have to realize that you can't take every human responsibility away from people and have them be something other than pets. But then again, maybe that's your goal.

G.O.P. Growth. Opportunity. Prosperity. For all Americans.

Nope.... (0.00 / 0)
any time I hear Guvna Patrick...his voice drives me nutz.....wimpy....like he missed a testosterone boost somewhere in his development.
Male candidates are ragged on for their hair...both style and how much it costs.  John Edwards comes to mind...but Reagan...Romney...
Clothes....not so much.
I'd love to find the part of the Constitution that says the federal government has the power over how much an employer pays an employee......but it ain't there. If employers paid women 23% less than men.....no man could ever find a job....but statistics are fun.
