Live Blog: VP Debate

by: Rob "EaBo Clipper" Eno

Thu Oct 11, 2012 at 21:02:37 PM EDT

The Scribble live free trial ran out. So this will be an old school open thread.

Put your thoughts in the comments.

Good for the moderator.  Opening with Libya.

Biden: What it was, was a tragedy. We will find and bring to justice.  Where ever the facts lead us we will make clear to the public.

Biden says Romney wanted 30,000 troops left in Iraq.

Ryan - the administration lied. It took the President two weeks to admit it.

Wow, Joe Biden is laughing at the facts.  I don't think laughing about something this serious is the right tact to take.

Biden lying. Wow.

Biden is just plain lying about the current state of the foreign policy of the Obama administration.  This is just unbelievable.  The latest information is that the Iranians are 2-4 months away from a bomb.

Jobs

Line of the night: "Joe knows a little bit about mis speaking."

No Joe, we got here because of your love affair with the bad financial actors like Deval Patrick.

Quick Observation

One gets the impression that the two Irishmen Paul Ryan and Joe Biden actually like each other.  They're battling, but I don't think there is animosity there.  It's an interesting throwback dynamic.

Taxes

Love that Ryan mentioned that Canada lowered taxes.  And their economy is booming because of it.

Biden is being a dick (0.00 / 0)

Joe (0.00 / 0)
Joe have false eyelashes? or just extra mascara?

Biden's tactic (0.00 / 0)
To laugh at everything Ryan says and treat it as if he does not know what he is talking about.

Keep pointing Joe, (0.00 / 0)
especially at the moderator in a condescending, angry tone.  Then laugh at everything Ryan says.  It's a good look. Wonder if this is what your trainers had in mind.

The Kooks Will Love It, (5.00 / 1)
...Biden's rudeness and condescension - it's a style they tend to applaud.

Ryan's calm and rational responses, in the face of Joe's sputtering antics and ginned up indignation, show him to be the more fit man to be a heartbeat away.

Something significant in Syria? (0.00 / 0)
Something significant in Syria, are we spending our taxes on rebel forces inside of Syria?

BIDEN: "Let me -- you don't go through the U.N. We are in the process now -- and have been for months -- in making sure that help, humanitarian aid, as well as other aid and training is getting to those forces that we believe, the Turks believe, the Jordanians believe, the Saudis believe are the free forces inside of Syria. That is underway."

What are the details of this "months of help" has anyone seen any news of this?

"It looked like (0.00 / 0)
a cranky old man...debating a polite young man."

"I acknowledge having racist and classist and sexist feelings of white male superiority." -John Howard

Clearly (2.00 / 1)
Biden won this round.

"That it ceased to exist, I'll grant you, but whether or not it failed cannot be definitively said." - Metropolitan (1990)

Tough Call (0.00 / 0)
On substance Biden was better but all that laughing and interrupting was an insult to the entire process and demeaning to the office he is supposed to be holding. Clowns are on the other stage.

[ Parent ]
I wouldn't even give him that much. (5.00 / 1)
Substance: relatively even. Each side scored for their team.
Assertiveness: Biden
Overall performance: Ryan (Biden's boorishness was off-putting to rational unbiased viewers)

[ Parent ]
Ryan/Biden on radio (0.00 / 0)
I listened to it, didn't watch it, and to me Biden came out ahead in what turned into a regular partisan slugfest. Ryan was valiant in his efforts but basically was not going to make progress against Biden.

[ Parent ]
Biden (like Nixon) Won the Radio. (0.00 / 0)
But if you watched on TV, he came across like an ass clown.

[ Parent ]
and Kennedy won (0.00 / 0)
Not sure about Romney/Ryan - it's going to be close.

[ Parent ]
I could hear Joe Biden talking, but what I saw was this..... (0.00 / 0)
Jack Nicholson joker

We are headed for a 'Fiscal Cliff' and the country just elected a dope whose motto is 'Forward'.
