Five Things you should know today, October 16 2012

1. David Kravitz still silent on law license

David Kravitz is still silent on Elizabeth Warren practicing law without a license in Massachusetts. Three weeks have passed since we've learned she's done so.

2. Former U.S. Attorney files complaint regarding Warren's practice of law without a license

The Associated Press has the story:

A former Republican U.S. attorney for Massachusetts is calling for an investigation into Democrat Elizabeth Warren's law license, echoing a charge also raised by Republican U.S. Sen. Scott Brown.

Francis McNamara, who resigned in 1989 after federal investigators concluded he'd falsely accused former Republican Gov. William Weld of smoking marijuana, said the Massachusetts Bar of Board Overseers should investigate to see if Warren "engaged in the unauthorized practice of law."

Warren, a Harvard Law School professor, said McNamara and Brown are "just wrong."

3. African American Brown Supporters called "House" blacks by Warren supporters

First you had Warren supporters lobbing gay slurs at a Scott Brown staffer. Now you have Warren supporters going all Harry Belafonte on African American Brown Supporters.  The Boston Herald has the story:

"I'm voting for two incumbents who have a track record: that's Obama and Brown. I know what they stand for," Thompson added. "I don't like every vote Scott Brown has taken but I respect the fact that I know what he stands for."

Last night, people held Warren signs across the street from the Brown campaign office, and one shouted: "You know those field people and those house people. This election is about that."

Thompson, who is black, commented, "Sometimes it gets nasty."

4. Commonwealth on Fiscal Cliff

Despite Minority Leader Brad Jones praising the enactment of this year's budget, it turns out the budget as enacted was based on Unicorns and Rainbows.  As this Associated Press article shows.

Gov. Deval Patrick's administration has ordered tighter controls on state spending, while opting not to revise its estimate of tax revenues for the current fiscal year.

Secretary of Administration and Finance Jay Gonzalez said Monday he believes Massachusetts will have enough revenue to meet its budget obligations.

Tax collections fell $95 million short of benchmarks during the first three months of the fiscal year that started on July 1.

5. Tisei/Tierney have two debates this week

Incumbent Congressman John (Let it Roll) Tierney (D-Craps Table) and Richard Tisei will debate twice this week.  Once on Wednesday night at the North Andover High School and at the NECN studios in a Broadside: the News with Jim Braude debate.

2) Not quite a (0.00 / 0)
"files a complaint" moment...but what's with this in the article:  "Warren is currently a member of the Texas bar..."
Didn't she give up being active in the TX Bar in 1992?

Is there a place online I can go and put someone's name in and see if they are on food stamps or anything else?

Words That Start With Q (0.00 / 0)
There aren't a lot of words that start with Q.
For some reason my mind keeps being drawn to one in particular.

David Kravitz is silent but deadly on this issue! Oh yes! (0.00 / 0)
Meaning he hasn't said a peep, but something stinks!
