Dear MA Gop - you have serious issues

by: Millie

Fri Nov 09, 2012 at 19:49:45 PM EST

You really need to take care of your housekeeping issues, if you don't have good information on your site how do you expect people to get involved.  Case in point.  My State Committee people are Brent Andersen and Mindy Hebert, but you have listed Brent and Sherri Worthington.  And our local RTC does not have contact information even though we have sent it into you several times.

Lets start small, lets fix our web site so people know how to get in touch with us.  And then lets work on hosting regional events to invite people who may want to find out about us.  Lets make this easy for busy people.

Mistaken (0.00 / 0)
I'm not sure what you're looking at but the list of MassGOP State Committee members has Mindy McKenzie-Hebert clearly listed & Shari Worthington is not.

Second Worcester Brent Andersen
Second Worcester Mindy McKenzie-Hebert

Needs Updating (0.00 / 0)
This list of municipal committees does need updating in that my own Dartmouth committee has the wrong chairman listed (formerly John Haran but now Bob Gauvin since the reorganization).  Ditto Mattapoisett, etc.

However, I suspect time & attention was focused more upon the elections then the website.  That said, it should be updated with the most accurate information, ASAP.

Where? (0.00 / 0)
Where is that link from?  The one I listed is directly from the current page.  Is yours an older bookmark or can you direct me to where you found it?

If it's easily accessible by the public, and in error, yes it must be fixed - undoubtedly.  I just don't see where it is.  I can easily find Mindy's reference.

Why is there a "committeeman" and a "committeewoman"? (0.00 / 1)
Every town has a man and a woman? What, are they supposed to breed and make more Republicans or something? That's ridiculous.

[ Parent ]
The law (0.00 / 0)
Try actually looking up something before asking question in an absolutely stupid and insane way.  THAT is ridiculous.  Your attempt at humor usually fails for not being very humorous.  You and your single issue obsession, now that's ridiculous.

Despite your crude insanity, I'll still try to give you a reasonable answer.

State law requires 1 man & 1 woman per Senate district.

The Democrats go further & have a whole series of extra seats for State Committee members.  They have "20 year" members based on years of service as well as "caucus" & "ex-officio" due to elective office but depending upon area demographics they also have the following listed under "seat type":

affirmative action
gender balance

Their membership list is much, much larger than our 80 members (1 man & 1 woman per 40 Senate districts)

dumb law, typical of 1976 (0.00 / 0)

Well that explains everything. Until we can get that law repealed for blatant sexism, Republicans should appoint at least 20 more members who are straight, male, and over 30 to restore some sense of duty and moral responsibility to the party leadership.

Brock, are you still an extreme opponent of legal recognition for gay people? Do you still say "I am not in agreement with civil unions & I will not compromise on that principle or issue."

And do you support those Personhood Amendments that oppose not just late term abortions but also discarding fertilized embryos and emergency contraception for rape victims?

I think those are ridiculous extreme positions to hold.

[ Parent ]
I am as extreme (0.00 / 0)
as every practicing, practical Catholic.

[ Parent ]
is that a yes? (0.00 / 0)
You oppose not just same-sex marriage, but you also oppose civil unions that are legally distinct from marriage and do not give society's approval of sex and procreation of offspring? Yes or no?

And you think that fertilized eggs that have not yet become implanted in a woman's womb are persons with legal rights that prohibit allowing them to stop developing into human beings? Yes or no?

Read & Educate Yourself (0.00 / 0)
I believe I made my position abundantly clear and in a manner that even you may understand.

If you require further elaboration, please educate yourself by reading the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

The book should explain to you the faithful of America's largest single religious group (Catholicism) believe in America's single largest religion (Christianity) and has done so for 2,000 years.

Extremist?  Yes, you are.  Me?  Entirely mainstream.  'nuff said.

[ Parent ]
I support Civil Unions and exceptions for rape (0.00 / 0)
How am i an extremist? Hopefully you don't think it's extreme to prohibit same-sex couples from attempting to make genetic offspring together, or people to change sex and reproduce offspring as that sex.

I think they'd accept my Civil Unions (0.00 / 0)
Vatican spokesman the Rev. Federico Lombardi, for his part, said gays can have their rights protected by means other than through legal marital recognition. He stressed that children should have a right to say they have a father and a mother.

My Civil Unions, defined as "marriage minus conception rights" affirm the essential meaning of marriage and do not "attempt to mirror" marriage. My Civil unions are NOT essentially marriage under another name. They affirm that all children have a right to a mother and father. So I think Catholics should support my proposal.

Wrong (0.00 / 0)
A Frequently Asked Question from the website of the United States Council of Catholic Bishops.

What about "civil unions" or "domestic partnerships" between two persons of the same sex?

Marriage is a unique good in itself. Nothing compares to the unique partnership of husband and wife, who through their sexual difference form a life-giving communion. No relationship between persons of the same sex can be the same as that between a man and a woman, nor should they ever be treated as analogous to marriage in any way. Thus, legal categories such as "civil unions" or "domestic partnerships" that claim equivalent or analogous status to marriage are wrong and unjust, harmful both to the person and to society. Legal categories such as "civil unions" or "domestic partnerships" should never be treated as analogous to marriage. Such legal approval of "civil unions" contributes to the erosion of the authentic meaning of marriage. As such, they are never acceptable. Basic human rights are not protected but violated by the erosion and redefinition of marriage.

[ Parent ]
These are not analogous to marriage (0.00 / 0)
You aren't listening, Brock. The Civil Unions I propose are explicitly not analogous to marriage, they are defined as "marriage minus conception rights." They are not treated as analogous to marriage. They are not life-giving. They do not compare to the unique partnership of husband and wife. They do not claim to be legally equivalent. They would remind everyone that marriage, and only marriage, approves and allows sex and procreation. They strengthen marriage, they do not erode the authentic meaning of marriage. They are more than acceptable, they actually strengthen marriage and help people too.

Please stop being so hostile to me and my idea and give it a fresh look, and ask your Bishops and Cardinal to consider Civil Unions defined as "marriage minus conception rights."

Elections (0.00 / 0)
As for the elections that is always the excuse they use.  I would love to see them start at the basics and then use a solid base for building blocks to grow.

No Excuse (0.00 / 0)
The MassGOP HQ is basically 3-4 people in an office each with their own specialty - and web design/updating isn't one of them.

Now, I've LONG had a problem with the website over MANY years & administrations for this very reason, bad/hard to find information.

[ Parent ]
someof the links don't work (0.00 / 0)
my town isn't even listed and some are broken - this is an trivial problem - the links should be editable by a person with no web experience.

The mass GOP website should be setup with sub domains - and then give control and a webpage template to each town - for instance needham should be

let the local committees manage there own subdomains - if they get out of control for some reason you could always shut them down.

this is what a lot of franchises do.

adapt or fade away - or move to Texas - which I'm not doing.

Chronic Problem (0.00 / 0)
The website has been a chronic problem for at least the past decade, in my ever so humble opinion.

Sometimes its due to not having anyone on-staff to properly set up & maintain the website.  Other times it has been a conscious decision to farm out the work to a private company that was utterly unresponsive.  Yet at other times we have had the problem that the Republican National Committee has run our site, imposing its template, and it wasn't very good.  The list could probably go on and on.

I've rarely if ever been pleased with the current state of our website.  It must be accurate and informative, it rarely is either.

MA GOP wordpress site ? (0.00 / 0)
It should and has to be maintainable by the office staff - you web developer should not have to do routine updates.

Maybe someone should talk with the Texas GOP - it looks good.

Site is fine, it is priorities (5.00 / 1)
The site, designed by Rob Willington, is just fine. (Yes, it could be 10x better.)

I noticed that stuff attacking Elizabeth Warren and John Tierney was updated constantly with high-quality and expensive material. That was the priority. Party-building and useful information does not matter during an election.

I hope that now they can go back to improving the other parts of the site.

Party building day 1 after Brown/Coakley Election (0.00 / 0)
Party building should have started day 1 after Brown/Coakley Election. There was momentum - now there is none.

The MAGOP website should have had up to date pointers to all of the RNC local committees - if you wanted to volunteer locally how could you.

Brown's campaign offices should have been much more public - I had to email to find out the local office was 10 minute away - it was hidden in an office park. No problem finding the Warren offices.

Here is a thought...... (0.00 / 0)
Maybe add a little eye-candy?  Maybe have a single page for 'The Women of the MAGOP".   Lots of American flag bikinis and bare midriffs.

And for the women - I would be happy to appear in my 'construction worker' outfit for a few quick photo ops....Hard helmet and all....

Ed Markey is now the official 'cheapest' man on earth.  1.5 percent to charity while the average American gave 3 times as much...

[ Parent ]
All I am saying (0.00 / 0)
is our site is where people find our local town/city committees, it seems that MAGOP makes it difficult for people to work with them.  As for the office space.  Over priced, Boston located.  Not even central location.  No parking and no one ever gets back to people who want to intern.

Seems like our party is so broken and the people who are in control like it that way.
