A Letter to Our State Committee

by: DeanCavaretta

Wed Dec 26, 2012 at 18:28:31 PM EST

Dear State Committee Members:

Hope you had a great Christmas, we just wanted to get in touch with some new developments regarding the upcoming election for Chair of the MassGOP.

We have continued to engage in thoughtful and meaningful discussions with a large variety of State Committee members, activists and elected officials. After a thorough review of our bylaws, and in an effort to accommodate them, David D'Arcangelo and I have decided to broaden our efforts to maximize an open, deliberative debate of how best to strengthen the MA GOP for 2014 and beyond.

Accordingly, working with our supporters, we are now each requesting that both of our names be placed in nomination for Chairman on January 31st. We are doing this to put our egos aside for the betterment of the MassGOP, and particularly the process of selecting our next Chair. We believe that more candidacies will lead to a more robust debate, and are requesting a series of forums or discussions with all of the candidates to communicate all of our ideas regarding the future of the MassGOP.

Our hope is to bring the reform issues we care about to your attention, and larger activist community. In the days and weeks ahead, we intend to be very specific in laying out our Vision for Success, which was the rationale behind our detailed 2010 website: www.NewMassPlaybook.com.

As we noted last week in our messages to all of you, we step forward not oppose any one person or group, but to offer new policies. We do not have all the answers, but what we do have is the leadership, campaign experience and courage to speak up.

All of you are our colleagues. In fact, we have learned a great deal working with many of you over the years, and it has been an honor. You know us. We haven't been involved for 18 months, but for over 18 years. And in that time, we have built a reservoir of new ideas.

Because at the end of the day, like all of you, we want to win more races.

Thank you,

Dean Cavaretta, (617) 285-6446 cell
David D'Arcangelo, (781) 789-4580 cell
