A perfect example of how gay marriage is screwing up America!

Gay marriage continues to be play the starring role in the liberal play that I call the 'theatre of the absurd'.  It seems a Florida Judge has allowed the birth certificate of a lovely little child to have three names for parents on it.  The names are those of the two married lesbian woman and the gay man that donated the sperm.

The decision ends a two-year paternity fight between the couple and a friend of the women who donated his sperm to father the child but later sought a larger role in the girl's life.

The ruling means the child's birth certificate will include a biological father and both women as parents in an unusual arrangement approved recently by a Miami-Dade Circuit Court judge.

So what does this child put on the forms when enrolled in the local school?  The school forms will require parent or guardian names, and the child will have to list 3 names, causing untold numbers of questions, embarrassing letters, news reports, and awkward interviews - all of which the child does not need.  Actually, neither does anyone else in Miami-Dade County need this nonsense.  Without doubt it will require newly printed 'tax-payer' funded school forms by the millions, which will now require an extra line for third-party parents.

Could we have predicted such a foolishness to follow?  Of course we could, because we are conservative, and conservatives understand how one thing causes another thing to happen.  Allowing gay marriage causes questions about adoption.  Allowing gay couples to adopt causes questions about who the parents are.  Allowing more than 2 parents on a birth certificate will cause a precedent to be established that will allow any interested third party to get his/her name on a birth certificate thus allowing tax deduction chaos, inheritance civil suits, paternity problems, etc, etc, etc.  It opens a Pandora's Box to a hundred other problematic social challenges - all because one weak-kneed judge didn't want to be called a homophobe.  (That had to be the cause as he was certainly not determining the case based on precedent)

Mark my words - within a year we will hear about another story in which there will be multiple parents listed on birth certificates - or maybe no parents listed at all.  Or possibly one parent listed will be a cat or a dog by some sick animal lover who wants to create a legacy for Fido or Mittens.

Regardless, it is a perfect example of how the left continues is senseless push to destroy the traditional family norms and turn marriage and family into some evolving paradigm of impractical foolishness that 'feels good'.

(Can't wait for John Howard to weigh in on this...)

wow, that is a real stretch.  How would you feel if the case involved a heterosexual couple who needed a sperm or egg donor?  It seems you just can't accept that same sex marriage is here or perhaps you were hoping for a proposal from fido or mittens?   While I can totally agree certain judges take certain things to extremes, your arguements are just way out of whack.

Yeah, this is about donor conception in general (0.00 / 0)
It's tangentially related to gay marriage but using a donor is not a right of marriage, gay marriage actually means a right to avoid using a donor and have sperm made from one of the women's stem cells to create genetically related offspring. One of the women would provide her own egg and the other woman would provide (or rather a lab would provide) sperm made from her stem cell that has been grown in the right chemical environment (a man's testicle perhaps) to have male genomic imprinting. That would be unethical and expensive and is entirely unnecessary and would lead to all sorts of other genetic experiments, huge government agencies regulating everyone's reproduction, and entitlement programs for everyone that wants to have children with someone of the same sex, or change sex and have children as their new sex. If you think that Michelle Koselik case is bad, wait until it's not just inmates but everyone who gets it for free (like IVF is), and not just cosmetic surgery but actually enabling him to mate with a man and get pregnant and give birth. And everyone on the taxpayer's dime.

I'm looking forward to this discussion on Julie Shapiro's blog. I don't think she ever considered putting three parents on the Birth Certificate. What was suggested over there is that Birth Certificates should now have to list Sperm From __, Egg from __, Gestated by __, Intended Legal Custody of ____,____,____ (list all legal guardians).

Birth Certificates should not have erroneous information on them, they should not be used as the document to show legal parenthood, only who the genetic mother and father are (and the doctor, hospital, date, and woman who gestated if that's different). Separate documents or a national database should record who a child's legal guardians are.

Untrue sensiblegop... (0.00 / 0)
If gay couples, be they men or women, were able to produce children then I would not have a problem with it.  But, as anyone with more than a 1st grade Lexington, Massachusetts education would know, people of the same sex can not have children of their own through the traditional sense.  So they adopt!  They use someone else's kids to pretend they are parents.

In this case the father, and I use that term loosely, decided he wanted in on the birth certificate.  So now a new precedent has been established because the gay community can't seem to restrain itself with respect to social norms.  Now that this has happened we will see all kinds of incremental foolishness.  They will extrapolate this onto the absurdity of the 'Nth' degree.  Dogs, cats, trees, pogo sticks and anything else liberals value as much as human life will appear on birth certificates going forward.

As for a heterosexual couple, there is now a standard where only two names appear on the birth certificate, whether or not a sperm or egg donor was used..

The same has occurred with respect to gay marriage.  Once the standard 'one-man and one-woman' marriage was thrown out and any two people could get married all kinds of silliness came forward.  There are real stories (use Google) of men who want to marry their horses, their dogs, their pillow, their Christmas tree, etc.  You would be naive to think this will not happen with birth certificates and the parents listed on them....

We are headed for a 'Fiscal Cliff' and the country just elected a dope whose motto is 'Forward'.

So, adoptive parents are pretend parents? (4.00 / 1)
I get the feeling this will sort itself out the moment this lesbian couple gets divorced.  Who will be on the hook for child care payments?  Not either of Heather's two mommies.  It will be the baby daddy.  And no man will ever fill out that part of the form again.

This could have been a hetero couple (0.00 / 0)
This case has very little to do with marriage or with same-sex couples, or even donor conception, it's more just about how judges are getting creative with Birth Certificates and misusing them to declare parenting rights. It could have been an unmarried heterosexual couple and a previous boyfriend that got her pregnant, and the mother was originally planning to name her current boyfriend on the birth certificate, and maybe he had already signed the VAP (Voluntary Acknowledgement of Paternity), but the ex-boyfriend knew he was the father and wanted to be a parent, and a judge decided to put all three names on the Birth Certificate. But there's a reason that's never been done before. I suppose the judge used the fact that it was a married lesbian couple using a known sperm donor as an excuse to do something so ridiculous though.
