Gomez declines interview with Fox25's Sharman Sacchetti till 2/28

by: Jack Gately

Tue Feb 12, 2013 at 21:31:11 PM EST

(People are complaining that the Gomez campaign is a 30, 000 foot affair. This does not help. - promoted by Rob "EaBo Clipper" Eno)

The fledgling campaign of little known but highly touted Gabriel Gomez declined an interview request from Fox 25 political reporter Sharman Sacchetti today until Mr. Gomez makes an official announcement on 2/28. Why?

Campaign tells us he will not be avail to speak to us until formal campaign rollout on feb 28 “@jackgatelycom: @ljbarstow #masen #mapoli

A study in contrasts (0.00 / 0)
For years, Winslow has been willing to speak to anyone who will listen.

Must doubt he will make the ballot? (4.00 / 1)

He has the money to pay petitioners. (0.00 / 0)
But if that is a concern, I don't see how avoiding publicity will improve his situation.

And Sullivan. (0.00 / 0)
Announced at 3 or 4, on Howie Carr at 5.

Need to poll first (4.00 / 1)
Since this guy has done, well nothing, Kaufman and the establishment need to figure out what words should come out of this guy's mouth first, before he opens it.

Gomez is the Manchurian candidate of the Romney/Baker/Healy/Kaufman folk.

They need at least two weeks to program him.

"Those are my principles. If you don't like them I have others."
-Gabriel Gomez

Gomez probably doesn't want to answer why he endorsed Obama in 2008 over John McCain... (0.00 / 0)
... why he donated $1000 to Khazei in 2009, and if he couldn't win Selectman of Cohasset in 2003 then is he suffering from delusions by running for U.S. Senate?

Kaufman's at it again.... (0.00 / 0)
We now have a Manchurian Latino....

So far we know he gave $$$ to Obama in 2008 and  Alan Khazie 2009. hat will we find out next?W

When will any MA-GOP Chair actually start acting like the Chair and stop allowing Ron Kaufman to be the puppet-master?

What a disgrace!

We already have two candidates ... (0.00 / 0)
who thought Barack Obama would be a better president than John McCain and didn't want Scott Brown in the Senate.

Ed Markey (D-MD) and Stephen Lynch (D-NARAL).

Thanks, but no thanks.

I will take Dan (4.00 / 1)
Over a guy who couldn't win a local election.

Dan's a good man. (5.00 / 1)
I could certainly support Dan Winslow should he be the nominee. I'm a conservative he's a moderate. But he's the kind moderate that is respectful of the conservative base. He understands that the Big Tent must have room for conservative base which is the center post of the Party. He's not trying to redefine the party or marginalize the conservative, activist, base.

Dan Winslow also has decent resume. The fact that he stood up the establishment putting best interest of the party over the special interest of few, tells me he'd stand up of Massachusetts in US Senate. So while I disagree with him on some social issues, I could easily support and vote for him should he get the nomination.

That said, my fist choice is Michael Sullivan, who I personally expect will announce today 2/14/2013.
That's an educated guess on my part. But it makes sense. He's already got people gathering signatures.

Of all the candidates running he has the most impressive resume. He's served as a presidential cabinet official (director of ATF). He did a great job as US Attorney. Before that he was DA for Plymouth County and a State Rep.

Should he square of against Lynch, he'll take a bite out of that blue collar Irish Catholic vote. Should he face Markey,
then we'd have a clear choice between rational thought and mythology. A debate I'd love to see.
Mike Sullivan has offers Republicans the best chance of winning this seat. But more importantly, Mike Sullivan will make a great Senator and the Commonwealth will be well served.

As for Mr.Gomez. He served his country as Navy Seal. So he deserves our respect and gratitude. But I can't support someone who as recently as 2008 supported a radical like Barack Obama and subsequently supported a liberal Democrat for US Senate in the 2010 special election.

In his defense Mr. Gomez is new to relatively new to politics, so this is not an unpardonable sin in his case. Someday he may make a good Republican candidate for something. Perhaps he should consider a run at Beacon Hill in 2014. But he's not the right choice for this race.
I did however, want to point out the difference between what Mr. Gomez may probably did out of inexperience, versus the sort of betrayal of a William Weld who also endorsed Obama in 2008. Weld was a seasoned, perhaps overly ripe politico when he joined the ranks of Judas Iscariot.
