| I thought this article was very interesting and wanted to share it with RMG. The article is titled "Fancy a trip to Mars dear? A 'tried and tested' male-female partnership in focus for space mission "
The article details the development of the privately funded venture to reach Mars. The article is subtitled: Research suggests a man and a woman working and living together may be better than two people of the same sex on millionaire's mission to the Red Planet
In addition to charitable and personal donations, Mr Tito said that he expected to raise money from television and media rights. The choice of a mixed crew of one man and one woman would heighten media interest, he said.
Jane Poynter of Paragon Space Development, who is an adviser on the mission, said that the man and the woman would have to be in a stable relationship.
"The idea of a man and woman going on this mission is an important idea. It's important also that they are a tried-and-trusted couple," Dr Poynter said.
"It's also important that they are man and a woman because they represent humanity...and just as important they represent our children," she said.
I am guessing that a trip like this would meet with widespread disgust from the progressive left if funded by the federal government of the United States. The federal government would not be allowed to send a straight man and a straight woman into space together. Actually, 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' would probably be the law of the land and space, so to speak.
The research groups that are being used to help with the psychological preparedness of this adventure also stated the following:
The fact that the two crew members will share the same living space for 501 days suggests that the man and woman will have to know each other intimately before the mission.
The feasibility study points out that a man and a woman working and living together may be better than two people of the same sex.
So here is the big $64,000 question. If it is determined that a man and woman represent 'humanity' and are determined to work better that two people of the same sex - what does that say about a society that allows gay marriage? Why would it not be true on earth as it is in outer space? Doesn't this explicitly imply that the concept of gay marriage is a 'flawed' or 'inferior' concept? |
