Video: Treasury Sec Geithner Meltdown

by: yankeepundit

Thu Nov 19, 2009 at 16:05:40 PM EST

Obama Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner throws a fit like a five year old child when asked about the state of the economy.

Blames Bush.  Claims that "you gave this President an economy falling off a cliff."  Then he is reminded that he was President of the NY Fed since 2003 and an appointee of President George W. Bush.

Classic baby boomer tantrum.

I predict he'll be gone by March.  Holder by May.

You 'GAVE' this President? (0.00 / 0)
I thought he asked for it?  Not only did he ask for it but he and his team said it was the greatest privilege and they would fix everything.

Buyer Remorse!

Congressman Peter deFazio (D-OR) Wants Geithner and Summers Fired (0.00 / 0)
A wave is building.

So long Timmy.

http://www.realclearpolitics.c...

Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-OR) says "we may have to sacrifice just two more jobs to get millions back for Americans."

Why is everyone shocked (0.00 / 0)
That the Krugman followers of Kenysian theory isn't working out?  The von Mises folks have been saying it for months/years now.  They can only hide behind "We underestimated the seriousness" for so long before someone has to conceed that they are now contributing to it and taking long term solid recovery further out into the future....like into my yet to be conceived grandchild's generation?

http://online.wsj.com/article/...

I must admit, I felt a little bad for Timmy.  All this grand theory not working the way he wants it to, or fast enough...sitting on the hot seat.  He'll do fine...I'm sure they have a nice seat of the board of AIG waiting for him.  what about this other guy who was the planner behind the scenes....Neil Kazkahi?  Haven't seen much of him lately.

How about Citibank (0.00 / 0)

Not AIG.  I think Timmy will go to Citibank.  Heck, they've been bailed out three times already.  Geither plus a pile of bad commercial RE loans are sure to make it four.

Seriously, this crash is totally predictable given the Austrian framework for business cycle.  Ludwig Von Mises rocks!

...not working out? (0.00 / 0)
What didn't work out was the deregulation conservatives (with he help of a "triangulating" Clinton) implemented, alogn with their (Greenspan's) loose credit.  Ya, now it's up to the Kenysian's to clean up the mess.  Why do you grab a mop and help clean up instead of sneakering on the side line.

question (0.00 / 0)
Do you think it's possible that if politicians did nothing, and accepted the fact that all of those deregulated banks would have failed - and the fast and loose creditors would have failed- that possibly for the short term the economy would be in much much worse shape - but in the long run new companies and new creditors would create a better stronger foundation for our economy to grow?  Without trillions of dollars from the Government?

Is it possible that government intervention helped to create the problem and more government intervention doesn't seem like an answer.

[ Parent ]
Yes (0.00 / 0)
And the article agrees with you.  This was 15-20 years in the making and either can point as the foolishness of the other, but what is clear is what is being done now is not the answer.  Government can't prop up the economy long enough to see it through to solid recovery...there is no new "next big thing" to spur growth and the few positive signs that appear (when they appear) are artificially inflated by government (cash4 clunkers, home buyers credit, bailouts).  They may have stopped the bleeding or slowed it in some areas, but they open new wounds in the process.  We are going to digging out from debt for a very long time.

On the allegance of Tim (0.00 / 0)
The blue background says Council on Foreign Relations, a globalist organization dedicated to world government at the expense of the United States.

Tim and the rest of Obama's cabinet members are just doing what they do all along, advancing globalism.
