| So yesterday we officially learned about one of the worst kept "secrets" in Massachusetts politics: That Senate Minority Leader Tisei is gay. Yes, this was widely known and was properly discussed yesterday within the political context of whether by officially coming out, that it sends a strong signal that Baker wants him for LG and they needed to get that house keeping item out of the way.
The reason for my post, is to compare the tame response of this widely known "secret", with the way RMG posters handled another widely known "secret" about Sen. Stan Rosenberg I commend the posters in the Rosenberg diary who called into question why the diary was written in the first place. But I think it's important to compare how RMG's editors treat two identical situations through the lenses of blind political partisanship.
I have to agree with the political analysis in the LG post that speculates that Tisei as LG must be a "done deal" because he came out yesterday (and I also agree with others that Polito is a smarter political move).
What I find most interesting is the solid rumor about another Republican who wants to run for Auditor (not Mary C) and also has one of those "worst kept secrets."
There is a real possibility that the Republicans will have two statewide candidates who are openly gay and another, who's brother had one of the first gay marriages in Massachusetts. For someone like me, all well and good. But for many in the Republican Party--it's like finger nails scratching a chalk board. |
