Culture of Corruption: slow leak

Will there ever be an end to the slow, steady ooze of scandal emanating from the Massachusetts Democratic Machine?  The latest noxious emission graced the front page of the Globe yesterday.  Once again it concerns former Probation chief John O'Brien, erstwhile close political ally of former Treasurer Tim Cahill (himself squatting nervously these days in his own pot of hot water).

It seems Sal DiMasi might not have been the only Beacon Hill Democrat to come up with the idea of feathering his own nest via a state IT contract...

MA AG Launches Probation Department Investigation

This afternoon, the Globe is reporting that MA AG Martha Coakley has launched an investigation into the MA Probatoin Department based on the findings in the Ware report.

In response to a letter from MA Republican Leadership, Ms. Coakley said the following:

"Your letter rightly states that the report details serious violations of the public trust,'' Coakley said in the letter. "Our office has already begun an investigation to determine the scope of the violations of state law.''

She added, "the report outlines a troubling and extensive scheme which lessened public confidence in the process of selecting probation officers and compromised public safety.''
